March 10, 201214 yr Commercial Member This worked for me, took awhile, my South African afrikaans accent must be weird for the computer to understand, but I can dictate those words now much better. That's great... glad to hear you got it working with your accent.Out of curiosity, will most South Africans have an "English" version of Windows? Was their any problem setting your Speech Recognizer to English - US on a Windows bought in South Africa? B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
March 10, 201214 yr Nope, no problem other than the weird way americans write the date. That confuses the living daylights out of us. We have 11 official languages and I and most south africans speak 2 of them, in my case afrikaans and english. Almost everyone can speak english, except maybe in the rural areas. I've never had my computer set to use afrikaans anyway, do not even know if there is such an option :LMAO:I just did a quick circuit and it was much better, still a little issue with armed and on, but much better than previously, and I think one more go with the dictation procedure will sort that out.
March 15, 201214 yr This is not true, for an unpressurised takeoff the apu must be running. (fs2crew also models these types of takeoffs)Made a typo error here.If doing a No Bleeds takeoff the APU must be running,..if the APU is inop it becomes an unpressurized takeoff.BTW,..alot of airlines use the bleeds off takeoff as SOP Damien WeekesCaptain 737NG / A319/20/21
March 15, 201214 yr I'd like to see an additional option for leaving the APU on even with a Bleeds On takeoff. For Alaska Airlines flights to Hawaii, flown under ETOPS rules, the APU has to be left running until the ETOPS exit point.(Note that this should change soon. They're trying to get approval from the FAA to re-start the APU in the air). Jon Skiffington
