As far as i can remember during beta in one of the surveys there was a question regarding the use of Track IR , so i figure when ever the more important things are out of the way the team will or it may be already working on the support for Trackir . cant do much but to wait and see ......
It was indeed. I'm sure it gets implemented.

Cheers

This has turned into a truly great forum once the dust settled, quite the change from what it was prior to the release of Flight. Now it is the first forum on Avsim I peruse when I boot up the pc.

Hey gang,Ok yes this is a very shameless bump on my part, to bring this back into focus. I fess up. :smile:I know - many believe MS Flight Team is already aware of the desire to implement native Track IR support into Flight, and probably nothing further need be said.I am somewhat the opposite - yes I know they are aware, and believe it is on a list somewhere of things to "maybe" add - I still believe however the strength is in the numbers. The more feedback they get from the community, the more seriously they look at it - and even if it is planned at this point to be added - the further up that list of things to do it might move.I am encouraged by Tom's interview with Josh Howard. I think Track IR was mentioned twice. First Josh mentioned it when talking about some things they have heard from the market that the would like to see added - and our emails undoubtedly helped in this regard - and then Tom asking the question directly - Thank you Tom! - and while his answer had somewhat of a positive tone to it, at the same time it was also non-commital. I got the impression that at least the "perception" of the Flight Team was, that while the passion by Track IR owners to see this support added was there - the actual numbers of Track IR owners, was relatively small...So anyway here I am again pleading with the community - and the community here at Avsim is quite large - PLEASE if you have not, or if it has been a while since you have, write the Flight Team and express your STRONG desire to have native Track IR support implementing into the sim soon. And please do this in a professional and respectful way.I know since this thread was active, there have been many new Fllight users come to the forums, both existing Avsim members, and new Avsim members. And that does not even take into consideration, all the guests that read this forum daily. I have often looked and see there are more guests than members reading. So FLIGHT without question is drawing in a lot of new blood, in addition to existing flight simmers. GUESTS - I encourage you to sign up with Avsim and participate here - this is a great community and Avsim is certainly top notch. So finally again, one more plea: Please take just a few minutes and write the Flight Team and express your desire for Track IR Support. They already have the SDK from Natural Point, all the tools necessary to implement.[email protected]And if you have not yet checked out what it is all about, and you are planning on sticking with Flight, or you are currently enjoying any other flight sims - all if which support Track IR already to my knowledge - visit the Natural Point website , and take a look - especially the video - on what it is all about. I have used it for years, and consider it just as essential now to have as a joystick. It would be a fantastic addition and tool to go along with the Flight program. Thanks in advance,

Don B

I've sent an email off as well.Funny thing is Flight ignited my interest in flight sims so much that I fired up FSX for the first time in ages and I've been enjoying both alot. However I went ahead and ordered TrackIR 5 and its amazing. I use it with wings of prey and rise of flight also. Now its gone and spoiled Flight for me! Until its supported in Flight I'll just pass time with other games. On a side note I'm not a hardcore simmer or a casual gamer, I'm a casual simmer (it can exist!)Niall

Hi Niall,Thank you very much for taking the time and emailing the Flight team your desire. Most certainly a " casual simmer" can exist!Your sentiment once you got your Track IR is a very common one, once folks actually take the plunge and try it out. And those Flight graphics and scenery, omg to be able to view whilst using Track IR would be awesome.Funny you mention how it ignited your interest in FSX - I have seen a lot of newer users over on the FSX forum that have expressed similar, and that is a good thing for the community.Heck it has even re-ignited more of my passion for simming than I already had, since Flight was released I have also purchased two newer WWII combat flight sims, as I have always loved them and had not bought any newer stuff in that genre in many years... of course I now have the pleasant problem of being able to fit all these into my already busy schedule.Oh and welcome to the Forums here! I see that is your first post - hang around, this is a great hangout and a lot of good info here as well!

LOL. My TrackIR 5 arrived yesterday. I hooked it up and ran FSX and WOW! What a difference it makes. While I fully expected the results I got, to see it for myself was proof positive that TrackIR needs to be supported in every simulator, be it flight, driving, or whatever. (OK, FPS games might not be perfect, but it depends on how TrackIR is implemented.)OK. Back to exploring my new virtual world!WildBill

It is something isn't it? Your reaction is by far the reaction of the majority that purchase Track IR and use it for the first time.Btw check out the games profiles in Track IR, there are many driving simulators that include support for it as well.Ss far as flying, to best of my knowledge, Flight is the only sim that does not offer native support for Track IR. It has been several years, since a flying sim was released without this. It is another peripheral, right there in line with controllers, that needs to be supported in the sim. I certainly view Track IR now as important for my flight simming, as using a joystick. Heck, even Flight automatically recongnizes my Cougar joystick, states so right there in the controller options...Now, before you get back to your new virtual world, please take a moment and email the Flight team of your experience and desire to see Track IR implentation now that you have experienced it first hand!!Congrats on your new toy,and have fun!
