Don't be stubborn, just do it

Since the release of MS Flight I've been moaning how twitchy the RV6 is and also how I don't like the default view (way too far back). I knew there were tweaks for the sensitivity:http://forum.avsim.n...ck-sensitivity/and changing the default zoom:http://forum.avsim.n...it-initialzoom/but after tweaking for years in FSX I refused to tweak MS Flight. Stupid me. After getting too annoyed with the overly twitchy RV6 I decided to give the sensitivity tutorials a try and even though I don't like to change the default zoom (which has a good sense of speed) I gave that one a try too.I should have done that the day these tweaks were known...I have InitialZoom = 0.7 which I only a small change but it almost shows me the VC as I used to set it up using Control-E. Having not to use Control-E and being able to simply press Backspace to restore a changed view is great.I have set my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro to the following settings (aileron and elevator):<AxScale>0.750000</AxScale> <AxNull>0.150000</AxNull>and now the RV6 isn't twitchy anymore and, even better, the plane (also the Stearman and Icon) has a WEIGHT now in the game! Specially the RV6 felt like a paper toy but now it's so much better! So my advice: don't be stubborn like me and give those tweaks a try...

And here we are, just after a week from the release, the tweaks for Flight start to flourish, so another supposed advantage over the old ancestor seems going away Big%20Grin.gifOnly joking, thanks for the tip.A.

LOL Yeah, I also didn't want to do it, but well... I am glad I did.BTW There is a HUGE difference between the current MS Flight tweaks and the FSX tweaks. Most (if not all?) FSX tweaks are about performance and it takes MONTHS to figure out what works best for your current setup. The MS Flight tweaks I posted about take a few minutes to do and to test and you're done. So easy. In fact, you can hardly call it tweaking...

Thanks for the tip about the controls; the RV-6 is much more realistic in pitch now.

Man what took you so long, especially after all the hours you have in it now? :smile:I did that for my Cougar/Elite Pedals setup as soon as they became known, as the controls for my aileron, elevator, and rudder was way too sensitive for all the airplanes. My final settings appear to be pretty close to what you came up with for your controller, made all the difference in the world. That, and removing the repeat lines from the aileron and rudder trims for my setup, which gave me much finer control for trimming...

Didn't like these settings at all. The plane felt like it was flying though pudding. Slow rolls, nearly stalled doing an inside loop because it took 20 years for it to get up and over.

LOL Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. :wink:That trim trick is also nice... I suppose this enables you to trim in small steps that are reproducable? I mean, click 8 times to trim up and if you trim down 8 times you are exactly where you started again? With the 'repeat lines' you never really know how much you trim unless you carefully watch the trim gauge.

And that's why you have to find your own settings. I didn't like the settings from the tutorial (here on avsim) too much, so I ended up in the middle.

Wow! what an improvement. I had the same attitude thinking, no more tweaks after FSX, but you persuaded me to try and I'm so pleased with the results. Thanks J van E

You are all very welcome. But obviously all praise to the guy who came up with the tweak in the first place!

Yeah.. Like your title suggests I am stubborn though. :P

Precisely. Someone posted early on, and stated that with the repeat statement, each button press for trim equated to an app 5 degree change, whereas by removing the repeat line, each button press is precisely, 1 degree. With the repeat statement, how much of course would also be determined by your keyboards repeat rate I would imagine.Btw, I stated aileron and rudder, I meant aileron and elevator axis. Now for the eyepoint movements I mapped to my stick, I did just the opposite - I ADDED the repeat statement for each eyepoint movement for my Cougar, so when I use my Hat2 switch for moving the eyepoints, I just hold it in to get it to where I desire then release - it is very smooth. And then added the eyepoint reset to another button on my stick, to be able to quickly get back to the default eyepoint view should I desire.

Each setting is going to be very much unique to one's controller and how the controller's sensitivity is set up in it's sofware, as well as the individual's him/herself taste.Always best for one to make small changes and test in between, to find a settting that they are most comfortable with. Seeing what others have come up with can be helpful for a good starting point.

HeLLoThank you for your advice. I've tried the 0.5 and 0.2 and... it was difficult to accomplish some acrobatics. ;)I'll try yours.@@++
