Question on the checklists in general - When the action item is simply to look at a guage and verify its reading, how do you do this so that the checklist knows you did it and goes on to the next item? I tried clicking the guage, pressing the next item button, zooming in on the gauge, nothings moves forward.

Press 3 after you have checked that the gauge is giving you the correct reading.

Normally you'd press the 3 key. Sometimes the checklist will lock up on one of these and you have to start the checklist over to get past it. It's been reported.Hook

Arwen, have you done the checklists in the Stearman? :D :DHook

Yes Hook, I have. And I realize that there are still some bugs that need fixing in the checklists (like setting the throttle to 50% in the Stearman, and the faulty oil temperature and pressure). My experience has been that the checklist will lock up only if you click on the cockpit when you are just suppose to verify a gauge reading. If I don't click anywhere at those times, pressing 3 always has advanced to the next item just fine.

I reported the other checklist items. Did you report the checklist lock up and what might have caused it? I'll give it a try next time I'm in the Stearman.Hook

The locking up explains the issues I've been having. Thanks. I just tried again and was able to run through the checklists by pressing 3. Now I just need to map all this to a joystick / throttle button.

I'll change the throttle opening to 1/2" and oil temperature to 50-70,What should the pressure be (i.e. is it a continental or lycoming engine in the Flight Stearman?)CheersKeith

It would be good if these resources could be brought together in some sticky topic - there have been maps, skyvector links, IFR pdf, now checklist... It would be good to see the goodies in one place.

Hawaii!

thanks Keith!

Actually there is, head over to Tutorials section of the forum, and look in the Flight section, there is a place there for " early Flight tuturials" or something like that. A lot of the early tips for things like tweaking the standard.xml file for joystick sensitivity have been placed there.I would imagine at times a moderator or forum admin might see something and think - man would be nice to have that in the tuturial section - and go ahead and place it there. That may be the exeption rather than the norm though, I don't know - I would suggest if anyone sees something they think would be nice to have there, to maybe pm a moderator/forum admin and let them know you would like to see it there... I don't know though if that is the correct protocol, maybe a mod will advise if it is not.

You can submit stuff to the tutorials section, I put my 'Simple Radio Nav' tutorial in there, just takes a few days to be approved. But I was thinking of making a set of web pages, optimised for a touch-screen 7-inch display (like my android tablet ....).Only problem would be getting agreement to use other peoples stuff (and getting a web-site without all the clickys...., which is in progress)According to the r/w Stearman notes, it came with two different engines, with different oil pressures. Just need to know which one Flight represents...BTW we should all read Cannibal Queen by Stephen Coonts, a r/w Stearman owner and author...CheersKeith

Thanks Keith, didn't even know there was a tutorials section here.Another things I'd like to mention now that we're on checklists... During engine shutdown, maybe not for the Stearman, but the other A/C, shouldn't there be a 'Set parking brake' somewhere?CheersDarryl
