March 20, 201214 yr Guys, I realized that I had posted the wrong shot. I posted in a hurry and then realized that that was not the Janet that was given priority over our take off. I went back and looked through the pics again and found the right one. So I guess the odds were 2-6 that I would see it, minus the odds of me being in Vegas. :( Here is the right one. Now I can concentrate on my flight to Vegas. :(If you don't mind me asking, what airline is that? Those red wingtips got me...

March 21, 201214 yr As an aside, you probably can't tell from the size of my photo, but I've made the trip to the invisible outskirts of "Area51." That's a picture of me next to a sign that says "Photography Prohibited." I've been there twice - one in 96 with my wife, and again in 2009 with then family (wife, and 3 children, 13, 11, and 10). You're not going to see anything, except magnificent desolation, but I still think it's a pretty cool trip. The best part is the final 5 or 10 miles is on a dirt road, with NOTHING around - you may not even see another car for an hour. Even th cows seem strange. As we were driving those last few miles, my kIds were getting creeped out, then my son says, "hey, I thought I saw something on that hill!" Then you make a little turn, and you reach the end, and what he saw was the security, who sit in a truck on a hill about 200 yards away. Just sitting there, watching from a distance. I tried to get everyone out so we could have a family picture in front of the sign, but everyone else was too creeped out. I did take a picture of the security - have 'em up on my FB page. It is kInd of cool for the kids to tell their friends they've been there, especially when a show about Area51 pops up on TV...they can also say the area looks NOTHING like the fictitious Area51 on "Independence Day." When we were in Las Vegas, (we had 2 days there...) we decided to go to the Hoover Dam to see it, but after that we didn't have anything else to do. We could have gone to that sign... Oh well, there's always next year! i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
March 22, 201214 yr It's a haul to get out there; I think it was about 2 hours or so from Vegas. We also stopped at Rachel, NV and the Little A'Le'Inn. I think you have to be a special kind of dork to be willing to drive 2 hours into the middle of the high desert to take a picture of a sign. And a black (now gray) mailbox. And I'm just that kind of dork. But I've also been to Vegas about 15 times, so I don't mind doing something a little different when I go out there, especially since Vegas has gotten so greedy, with their automatic shufflers, 6 to 5 blackjack payouts, and $25 poolside Jack & Diets. But I digress.... Brian Johnson i9-9900K (OC 5.0), ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero Z390, Nvidia 2080Ti, 32 GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz, OS on Samsung 860 EVO 1TB M.2, P3D on SanDisk Ultra 3D NAND 2TB SSD
