Microsoft Flight Review at Gamespot

Featured Replies

HiI've been with Gamespot now for 10 years - noticed that they've got a review out already for Flight. I don't know if you guys at Avsim knew about it. On the whole I thought it was a fair review.http://www.gamespot.com/microsoft-flight/reviews/microsoft-flight-review-6365704/I was a bit harder with my review (Jason210), which can be seen, amongst others by clicking on Player Reviews in the block on the left.Cheers/Jason

The score and what was written didn't add up in my book...

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

I saw it about a week ago and don't have a problem with it. I think the score maybe a tad high as well. They gave it a 7.0 and the user score is 5.1Cheers

Agreed. Honestly, the "boring factor" is high since it only took me several hours to score all gold in every landing challenge in all aircraft and to finish all missions minus the "for hire" ones... (ncluding the RV-6 add on). Frankly there's not that much to the game, and Hawaii feels sterile and lifeless, albeit beautiful to look at from altitude. There's just not much going on...

And again the HC leap on it like panthers on juicy prey. I read the more balanced reviews then just avoid the comments these days, since they just repeat endlessly and are essentially "But its not FSX!!! Where is my precious!?? I hates it! Hates Hobbitsessssss!!!!!!" :(

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

It's pity people go for such extremes, because one see's a review where ther reviewer gives it 1/10 or a 9/10, I think the review loses credibility. The review is obviously not balanced. I gave it a strict 5/10 and I'll probably change that if and when Flight changes for the better. I find it impossible not to compare it to other simulators, not just FSX, but X-plane also.

I think, in general the reviews I have read at various game sites tend to be fairly spot on. Ok... but not a game changing product. I remember when FS2004 was released there was a huge backlash when it was discovered that the bridges were missing! (remember that?). Just bridges, ha! Simmers, I think have gotten so used to seeing things added to each version (granted, this is not a FS11), that when you take so much away there can be nothing but backlash by many.I was a beta tester of Flight but haven't re-installed the game since then. "Lifeless" is so well put by simmers here. Last night night I did a run from Orca's Island down to KSEA in a little twin sight-seeing and then KSEA to KSFO in an A318 at dusk. Moving from Orbx's scenery into Megascenery at dusk was just magic. Just installed 127MB of GA AI and the ski was "alive". Looking down I saw my highways and backroads were "alive". I just cannot see moving into a dead society. Clutch

Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

That describes me as well. I was an MS Flight Beta Tester as well but only gave it a couple of evenings. The default aircraft currently are far too basic for me to have any kind of interest, as well I don't like the HUD at the top of the screen. So it is REX, ORBX, and Carenado or PMDG aircraft for me for a very long time.....until MS Flight can mature to this kind of level I won't be interested.Cheers
