What does "Live" mean exactly ?

Featured Replies

Does "Live" mean that the updates to the base Flight program and/or the DLC's will get automatically updated should you chose to do so, kinda like Windows updates ?

Yep, means you are connected " live" to the ecosystem they have in place for Flight. If you are any familiar with Steam, much like that.Patches, upgrades, can be pushed out automatically and installed with no user input required. Plus you have the ability to add what you want in the sim that is offered as DLC - Downloadable Content - as you wish should you choose to purchase. Purchase it, it downloads and installs " live" for you...

LIVE is just the online service that Microsoft Flight uses for multiplayer and patches/updates. Games For Windows LIVE is the PC equivalent of Xbox LIVE.

Purchase it, it downloads and installs " live" for you...
Or in short: get a live!

Since I am not familiar with either "Steam" or Xbox, I'd assume "Windows update" as the closest thing to "Live".Thank you for the responses.

LIVE is Microsoft's proprietary online gaming network. It's a fairly secure system that handles multiplayer gameplay, title updates, and downloadable content all under a single umbrella akin to Valve's Steam or EA's Origin. It offers some pretty nifty dev tools that make it easy for them to release patches, updates, and add-ons, in addition to allowing them to access a wealth of player data.Other cool tie-ins apply if you're also a Zune or Xbox user, since the Gamertag, Friends List, and Microsoft Points currency is shared among all 3 services (Games for Windows LIVE, Xbox LIVE, and Zune).LIVE is also built into Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7 software. You should take care in choosing a name, as you may find yourself using your Flight gamertag in a lot of different places. :Nerd:Edit: it's also important to note that when free patches or title updates are released, you will likely be unable to access multiplayer, new DLC, or other LIVE services in-game until you apply the patch/update.

Live means spy exactly in this context. they are watching you fly!

You can disable that in the menus, but they pester you to enable that every time you turn it on. Not something I mind, personally. I figure if the Flight Devs see me flying IFR approaches over and over maybe they'll get the message.
