March 27, 201214 yr I have been messing with it the past day or so and WOW. What an awesome app/tool/whatchamacallit!Here are a few videos I found that are utilizing OSM2XP and Openscenery (these are XP9 I believe but it works just as well in XPX it seems): Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
March 27, 201214 yr I'm using OSM2XP and it's also awesome in X-Plane 10:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/363752-vfr-test-flight/http://forum.avsim.net/topic/364546-vfr-to-nancy/http://forum.avsim.net/topic/365689-t-28-trojan-in-france/http://forum.avsim.net/topic/363513-near-evreux-with-the-bonanza/Happy flying. :( Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -

Period. Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
March 28, 201214 yr Author I am in the process of rebuilding Peoria and I am in awe of this program. The city and outlying areas have so many buildings, it makes my busiest FSX areas look sparse. I am about 1/4 done with this area, and I think I have already generated over 26,000 buildings......and that is for ONE CITY. WOW. March 28, 201214 yr Right, so I downloaded france at 2.6 gigs and then extracted it to 42 gigs. I ran OSM2XP and after a whilte the output directory is only at 6 megs. Whoa, this is going to take a while! I am running it on my imac which is a good i5 but maybe I should have put it on my 4.5gig i7. It doesnt really matter but I have been moving things around and I only turned it on for a while. I think I may stop it, move the pc to its final place and restart it. I wonder how long it will take :)
March 28, 201214 yr Impressive results.I am new to the XP worid, are there some tutorials for developing this type of scenery?ThanksA.

March 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member And remember, if you really enjoy it and are impressed with the results, you could always donate something to Ben to help keep the project progressing.http://osm2xp.com/?q=donateAnd no, I have absolutely no affiliation with Ben. I'm just an admirer of the work he does.
March 28, 201214 yr Use pbf files, they are a lot smaller and faster to read for osm2xp. Thanks for the tip, I got the whole of france from cloudmade but there didn't seem to be an option for pbf. I will check out the other site listed on the website. Thanks,Jason
March 28, 201214 yr A bit of a bugger, it stopped this morning at around 8a, after running for 9 hours or so with a memory error. I have just allocated it 4gigs max instead of the 512megs by default, lets see how it goes this time.
March 29, 201214 yr Author I have been cutting sections manually and generating the scenery VIA the tool. Is there a way to get entire cities at once? It seems like a lot of times I get a 404 error because a section I am trying to export manually is too big. Thanks! March 29, 201214 yr Not sure about a city, they only had entire countries where I got mine from. Looking again there is is part of the osm2xp site http://scenery.osm2xp.com/ It says this repository store X-plane autogen for the whole planet, made from open street maps data and requires opensceneryx to work. France is 191MB. So, is my 2.5gig download of france and hours of converting not required? Would the france file from there with opensceneryX do the same thing?

March 29, 201214 yr Well I dont know if they are incomplete but I downloaded the france one with the openscenery installer, put both on and took off from paris. There are a lot of buildings and the airports are populated etc. Too many buildings for my machine, the FPS tanked to around 8 when it would otherwise have been 50+ on that flight when not looking at the populated areas.
