April 28, 201214 yr No offense taken at all Andy - I truly did appreciate your original post. And the second one is helpful. I did recently install process explorer but it was a bit over my head and I never actually did use it. Perhaps I should try again and be a bit more persistent. The driver suggestion is an excellent one. Thanks mate Ian Ian Just one more thing .I agree about PE I don't pretend to understand all of its functions, but one thing that is easy to spot and that is if you ARE having system interrupt problems (these usually occur on start up of PC).Just run PE and let it open ,(you won't have to do anything ) You should see it running as a window and also in the bar at the bottom of your screen (bottom right) is that the task bar? not sure. However look at the PE box running in that bar ,if it is showing a lot of red hover your mouse over the graph and if it is system interrupts causing problems it will tell you in percentage terms ,if it showing system interrupts at anything from approx 50 to 100 percent then you have problems and your PC AND of course FS will run very poorly. The good news concerning Interrupts is that once the PC has been running for awhile they usually subside and this will become self -evident if again you check the graph in PE hover the mouse and they should have dropped to single figure percentages or indeed not show at all (usually switches to whatever is running at the time I.E FS9 or browser or whatever ,and it just shows them running as normal)and of course PC AND FS will return to normal running. I suspect you DON'T have this problem ,but its something else to eliminate. High system interrupts will most DEFINITELY affect FS and your whole PCs performance. Anyways I will trouble you no more. cheers and I hope you get it sorted. PS You only have to run and watch PE ,there is nothing you have to do ,just watch that graph (lots of red ,hover mouse and check for interrupts ,particularly after you turn on PC .,you will do no harm to your system or alter anything buy doing that.
April 29, 201214 yr Author Ok, installed the replacement Radeon HD4670 card..and guess what? The stutters are back again....ahhh!! Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
April 29, 201214 yr Okay, here's a question that is probably silly but I have noticed over the past few weeks that my sim has started stuttering occasionally also. A few weeks back I remember thinking to myself that everything was working perfectly and it just couldn't get any better. BIG MISTAKE! LOL Has anyone else noticed a recent change even though they haven't changed hardware like Bill? I have tried every cfg tweak that I can find with no results and have started to wonder if I downloaded something that is causing a problem. I know it's a long shot but I just wondered????? Cheers Ian I too have noticed a change in my performance over the last couple of weeks. Mine is a pause during all phases of flight. Does it during taxi as well. I get these pauses now where ever I fly and whatever plane I fly. Sometimes these pauses are preceded by a drop in frames (3-4 FPS), but not always. This is an issue I have not had before. April 29, 201214 yr Author Put back my older Sapphire Radeon X4950 pro its smooth again. Wonder if there is an issue with the new card and the cpu combined? I'm at a loss. Have you got the latest drivers for your new card? And if you have ,have you made sure you have used a driver sweeper type program (I use the one that comes from I-OBIT) to clear out ALL traces of previous drivers ,not doing this can cause GCard issues. Andy Hi Andy, will give a go and see with the latest drivers and using a drive cleaner program. Can you provide a link to where the I OBIT can be downloaded? April 29, 201214 yr Hi Andy, will give a go and see with the latest drivers and using a drive cleaner program. Can you provide a link to where the I OBIT can be downloaded? Hello Bill I am afraid I cant ,but if you type 'Advanced system care' by I-OBIT into your browser of choice that should get you there. Its a freeware suit of progs that do all the usual things that are supposed to make your PC run smoothly, and amongst the tools is there advanced uninstaller. You may want to pick the brains of the more tech savvy forum users than me ,as they may be able to advise you more on the use of this (or maybe recommend ) another uninstaller program (there are others available) But I do know that removing ALL previous GCard drivers before updating with new ones is a well known practice amongst simmers. I am sure someone here will advise. Hope you get it sorted. Andy
April 29, 201214 yr Author used a program called drive cleaner pro to wipe all all ATI files after an uninstall of my older drivers, replaced the video card to the 4670 series, installed the latest 12.3 AGP hot fix drivers and the stutters are still there. April 30, 201214 yr used a program called drive cleaner pro to wipe all all ATI files after an uninstall of my older drivers, replaced the video card to the 4670 series, installed the latest 12.3 AGP hot fix drivers and the stutters are still there. Sorry it didn't work this time Bill ,must be very frustrating, It was worth trying though ,in these situations you have to try and eliminate all possibilities. I hope you can get sorted. cheers Andrew
May 1, 201214 yr Author Here is the catch, my AGP Sapphire Radeon X1950Pro runs FS9 perfect and some other games fine, however games like Bus and Cable car simulator and Fear 3 have graphic artifacts. I get some textures that look weird and of color. Is it cause its a new game with newer shadders? With the newer HD4670, my FS9 sucks and stutters, sometimes its stats smooth and then starts stuttering, and sometimes it starts right form the start, but my other games are running great, Fear 3 has no graphic issues and Bus and Cable Car sim does not have any issue either. Hmmm Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
May 1, 201214 yr Author Here is what it looks like in Fear 3 main screen. You can see some weird textures and some writing is unreadable Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
May 2, 201214 yr Author Ok, updated to latest drivers and it fix that issue, might just return the 4670 video card I guess and stay with my much older X1950. I dont know yet Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
May 25, 201214 yr Author Ok, I have tried everything but a reinstall of Fs9, which I don't want to do at this time. Plus a reinstall might not even fix the issue. I don't understand why I get this elastic style stutter with the sim. Seems like it happens when I look to the left or right in cockpit view and once the stutter starts you can stop it unless you go back to windowed mode and then return to full screen, until it happens again. And what I mean my elastic style, is just that, the sim would stutter them speed up a bit to catch up to where it supposed to be.
