April 1, 201214 yr Boy, long flight. Did not use the "skip to next waypoint" until the way back to Hilo. No chashes, 2 stops for fuel just to be on the safe side. Only lost 500 points for not correctly fallowing the ridge line overlooking Honolulu. If I were to do in again I would not make the long clime and circle the Observatory at 13,000+ feet with full fuel. I was down to about 40 mph with full power and full flaps, almost stalled out before the potog said he had enough pictures. Glad to be going down hill again!
April 2, 201214 yr My god, how long is the average time for this mission?! Any way to save? Look fwd to that one. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 2, 201214 yr Average time is 2 to 2.5 hours if you don't skip on the way out but do on the way back. Close to 5 hours with no skipping at all. I recommend skipping on the way back since there's nothing going on then, but do not skip on the way out. It's the best mission in the game. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
April 2, 201214 yr It's the best mission in the game. +1, that is how I flew it as well, it is a really good one. Don B
April 2, 201214 yr Author The small "airstrip photo project" was much shorter but more difficault in my humble opinion.
April 2, 201214 yr I agree it was a very good mission. I actually crashed trying to do the canyon turn inside the valley after flying 20 minutes to get there from our last location. I chose start from last waypoint after the crash and it took me all the way back to the airport 20 minutes away. I was not in the mood for another 20 minutes of hand-flying a straigth and level path so I quit the mission. This mission really shows why the autopilot is essential in this game, IMHO, and that's why I hope they enable autopilots soon. - Gary Letona
April 2, 201214 yr Author I flew between the islands at 12,000 ft. The RV6 will stabelize on course with just trim and power settings. Just have to check in on it every so often and nuge it back on course. I have never used a autopilot so I guess I just don't miss it. I rather hand fly it anyway.
April 2, 201214 yr If I want to fly hands off for a little while I just tap the spacebar and let it fly by mouse for a little while. Seems to be a good stand in for AP, and you can get it flying straight and level pretty easily just manipulating the throttle and prop.
