April 4, 201214 yr What about removing your joystick or whatever controller you are using. Go into the file and remove anything that related to that controller if there is anything. Then fly it with the keyboard or just load fsx then close it. Now plug the controller back in and do the reassignments. Am I understanding this correctly? Bob Officially retired
April 5, 201214 yr Author I may have found something here. When I right click on my FSX folder this is what's showing in the permissions section. Under "Everyone" = all checks for "Allowed" Under "Creator Owner" = all blank. When I try to check them it runs through a scan like it's doing something but then reverts back to all blank. Under "System" = all checks for "Allowed" Under "Administrators" = all checks for "Allowed" Under "Users" = only checks for Read & execute/List folder contents/ and Read. Full control/Modify/Write are all blank. Under "TrustedInstaller" = only checks for List folder contents. All others are blank. I'm thinking this is the problem if I can figure out how to get the checks to stick under allow for all Group user names. April 5, 201214 yr Author I think we got it guys. :LMAO: :Peace: :Just Kidding: Now I know why so many people feel like choking Microsoft at times. Though I think we really need to blame the blasted hackers and virus idiots. Not just blame them but like lock them up and throw away the key. Man was this frustrating. I can't thank you guys enough for the input. I've had a huge amount of hurdles with this re-install but this one had me going the longest. April 5, 201214 yr Well, your not there yet but I think a solution has to be close by. Bob Officially retired
April 8, 201214 yr Author Problems solved. Everything A-OK. Thanks again. Mitch Was born on the Northcoast, where they coined the phrase that they still call Rock-n-Roll! Mitch Collins
April 8, 201214 yr Glad to hear it, Mitch, though without those permissions you wouldn't have access to your pc at all, as every hacker around would have locked you out and stolen everything they could! You can't blame Microsoft! Re-installed my Windows7 64 bit systemThis is where the problem has it's roots. Those file and folder permissions are the very root of your computer's security, and this is how every pc and server operating system, whether Unix, Linux, Mac or Windows - is configured. It's unfortunate that you had this issue (learning experience) but IT techs handle this (and lots more serious) kind of problem on a daily basis. You are the owner and it's up to your good self how you setup and manage your system. April 30, 201214 yr I am having the same issue, i gather from the above that the key to solving the problem is getting the check marks to stick for "Creater Owner".. for my own benefit and also for posterity's sake in the search function.. could you just briefly explain how you managed to do that?

Mitch Sorry to wake this thread up again but how did you solve it? Did you need to get "Creator owner" to stick"? I have been unable and whatever I do the controls still won't do what they are supposed to do. Regards, Manfred Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
February 5, 201313 yr This happens to me sometimes and I fix it by just saving the configuration from the FSX menu and then if it changes I just load that config. February 5, 201313 yr Well the problem is that nothing gets saved. It's not that it happens "sometimes". I can not get a single keystroke to get saved on that file... Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
February 5, 201313 yr even if you click "save" in the settings and you save it as whatever that file is? it has always worked for me. you just have to load that file every time to get the settings back. ~Remy Quote "The Skies the limit" Remy Mermelstein 777-300 FS Pilot, Deltava P3Dv4.1, ASP4, UTLive, ReShade + URP + PTA, All settings max'd, i7 Core Extreme @ 5.2gHz, GTX 1080, CyberpowerPC Gaming Laptop, 500GB SSDx2, 32GB DDR4 RAM.
February 5, 201313 yr Well the thing is that the "save" thing according to my CFG only saves Settings but not controls. It's the controls that I have trouble with. I have though saved one now. I think though that I solved the trouble overall. I added an authority called "everyone" to permissions to the FSX folder in program files (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X) and in the AppData page (C:\Users\Sandpatch\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX). I hope that it gets accepted in the system. At least I have been able to start 2 times without resetting. Let's see what happens. Anyway, thanks for the help Remy. Regards, Manfred Manfred G. February 6, 201313 yr No problem Manfred. Hope it works out, I hate when things get messed up in FSX. March 27, 201412 yr *Bumpy I also have this problem. Somehow a way back it saved all my Saitek configs, but now i want to make some changes to the buttons, and it won't save anything. My Beechcraft Baron 58 simulator project
