Got my rudder pedals! And now I suck even more at landings

Featured Replies

The rudder pedals in a 737NG are the most expensive foot-rests in the world !

You ought to know. There you have it boys and girls, from a 30+ years RW expert.

They do get used now and then for a bit...........to move the rudder that is.

Oh how I love the Yaw Damper in those Boeings.

like that: "... self calibrating, so no additional software is needed." Um. What if you need a flatter response curve?

No problem - by this version plugging directly into my Cougar, I have all the same available axis adjustments for these pedals as I have with my stick and current pedals, through the software I have now, so I could tweak and tune to my heart's content. While they may state it not be needed, it would certainly be available to me through my setup. But yes, very pricey - and some Cougar owners I have talked with in the past that got the same ones, absolutely love them.

Maybe someday - not quite ready for that at this stage.

Ah, good answer. As long as the people who have them like them, that's what matters.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I like the fact that the Saitek pedals are larger, and they also apparently can be set to a lot more resistance than the CH ones. I have the CH pedals, and thought I like them it's so different from what I experienced in the Piper Warrior - to turn during taxi I have to put my whole weight on the pedals, and in the air it requires some significant efforts too. Are the Saitek pedals closer to that?

To find many reviews of all different pedals, go to amazon.com and look at the reviews. Of course, like anything else, you have to throw out the "fantastic" ones and the "piece of junk" ones, and read the "in between ones". Good information.

I really like the G940 pedals, actually. They do have a bit of a center detent (they return to center with a tactile "jerk") that I don't like, but for being the "heel cup" type pedals, they're pretty restful and low to the flor. You CAN put your feet inf ront of them and just push with your toes if you like.

Footnote: Tried the "heel cup" pedals in real life, in a KA-6 glider, and didn't like them one bit at first. My legs got really tired, until I figured out I could put my feet on the floor and just push with my toes. As some of you know, pedals in a glider are anything but foot rests - sometimes I think I turn with my feet, and just a tiny nudge of aileron :).
