April 12, 201214 yr Hey every one. I have been searching and can't find anything related to my problem. I am attaching a picture of that prob lem. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I have REX, UT, and GEX installed, Maybe I did something wrong. April 12, 201214 yr Evidently some kind of clash between mesh and scenery. I'd try unticking any duplicate meshes in your scenery library if there is anything like that going on. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 13, 201214 yr Author not sure what you mean about duplicate meshes I am no done flying til you pry the joystick out of my cold dead hands
April 13, 201214 yr Custom terrain mesh, i.e. the wireframe model which forms the terrain shape. If you have more than one of those installed, it can clash with another and make your scenery mismatch with the terrain (i.e. some sceneries offer improved terrain meshes, so you may have more than one set of terrain data installed). April 13, 201214 yr it would help if you said what airport it is. Do you have 2 afcad files? What is your mesh setting in the fsx config? 10m? 5m?
April 13, 201214 yr Author The airport is KGEG in Spokane Washington My mesh setting is 10m. I think it happened when i Installed Ultimate Terrain X. I have not installed any special scenery it is all default. I am no done flying til you pry the joystick out of my cold dead hands
April 13, 201214 yr Author Did some further testing. Turned off Ultimate Terrain but that did not help. Looked in my library and saw no duplicate afcad files. It is looking like I will have to reinstall I am no done flying til you pry the joystick out of my cold dead hands
April 13, 201214 yr You might want to post in the Ultimate Terrain forums before you go through the reinstall trouble. They might be able to help troubleshoot. Have you run the UTX config tool? Any errors?
April 13, 201214 yr There are some tools to alter the Airport elevation. You can try ADX from Flight1 for instance and raise the airport to match the surroundings. Bartłomiej Ender
April 13, 201214 yr I once had a similar issue with a Mauritius airport scenery. I ran a tool which looked for duplicate .bgls and once I had deleted the duplicates, all was sorted. It's called Airport Scanner. Sorry I do not have the link for it. Rick Almeida
April 13, 201214 yr Author Thanks for your help everyone. I will try all your suggestions. I am no done flying til you pry the joystick out of my cold dead hands
April 13, 201214 yr Now that we know the airport to work from, what's it show as the elevation? How to find out? Start the default Cessna 172 on a runway and hit Shift-Z a couple, three times to get the red read out at the top. It should read 2,375.6. If it doesn't match, then you have something altering the airport's elevation. Nothing in UTX affects this airport's elevation. You mention the scenery is default, but you have mesh at a setting of 10m. Why? Default U.S. mesh is 38m. Uninstalling and reinstalling is going to accomplish what, if you don't know what the problem is? Knowing what all the add-ons are helps a lot in trying to diagnose a problem.
April 13, 201214 yr By any chance do you have FS Global Ultimate "The Americas" installed? -Damien Damien Furtman Hovering Hellion
April 13, 201214 yr Author I think i know what the problem is I have the first version of GEX and when i went to their site i found out there are two more updates for it. While reading their forums there is an issue with Washington that has been resolved with the two updates, including the airports and water elevations. Dummy me for not checking in the first place. I have no other addons except for GEX and Ultimate Terrain,REX and some payware aircraft. The reason my mesh is so high [ per Nick's setup] is that i bought a Alenware computer and it runs everything in high def easily. Thanks for all the help That is why I love this site best. Any one that might have a solution takes the time to help. I am not really up on elevations, terrain mesh and some of the more technical things in fsx, so forgive me if i don't explain things clear enough. When the updates are finished downloading and I install in the proper order I have a feeling that will cure the problem. Thanks again everyone.
