April 18, 201214 yr I would like to see just what the real life one has. No more, no less. Obviously, if can´t be done, I'm ok with it. Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil
April 18, 201214 yr ....cupholders, working lavatory, stocked galley...you know the imporant stuff... :LMAO: Really, I am sure PMDG will not dissapoint us. I have no doubt they will out do themselves as they have always done with each successive project. April 21, 201214 yr Ryan....... I suspect you think you comment of April 18th answered my question about any 2D panel elements in the upgraded 747. I don't think it did. Maybe just a yes, no, partial, maybe, regarding any 2D elements would be a satisfactory answer. Don't mean to be argumentative but I really don't follow your response as far as my original question. April 21, 201214 yr Jack, I think it's been said before, but if I remember correctly, there will nog be an actual 2D-cockpit in PMDG's products anymore, just some popup panels, Name available upon request
April 21, 201214 yr Thomas..... That's the answer I was looking for. Kind of. I was hoping that at the very least there would be a similar type of 2D panel setup that's in the 737 NGX. But I guess not. Makes it a non starter for me. Jack Fentress
April 24, 201214 yr Thomas..... That's the answer I was looking for. Kind of. I was hoping that at the very least there would be a similar type of 2D panel setup that's in the 737 NGX. But I guess not. Makes it a non starter for me. Jack Fentress How so? I don't use TrackIR or anything like that at the moment, and I have no trouble flying in the VC when using the NGX. I just use pop up panels if I need to change something quickly on any panels not directly in sight. Heading changes etc and done by simply flicking the HAT switch on my joystick so I "turn" the pilots head to look at the MCP. Thanks Matthew T Gardiner
April 24, 201214 yr Ryan, Will the 747-8 be an expansion pack to the new 747-400, or will they be two stand alone products? <---------------> Mike Murawski
April 25, 201214 yr Matthew.......... The 3D vs 2D to me is a "which one do I prefer" issue. Nothing more, nothing less. For myself, you can see that I'm one of the 2D folks by preference. I take nothing away from those who have different preferences, but if a product doesn't have elements that I prefer, it makes no sense to acquire it. No matter how good it may be otherwise. Do I lose out by that approach? Of course, but I'm much more comfortable having aircraft that have the 2D panel. Even those such as the PMDG 737 NGX which I enjoy thoroughly. I've used a 3D panel on occasion but It's just not for me. I've always enjoyed the PMDG products (I have all of them except for the J 41), but I'm afraid that the panel issues will prevent me for acquiring future PMDG products. ..........and by the way, if the panel issue is a development and business issue for PMDG, they should not be criticized for it. Things change in this world. Jack Fentress
April 25, 201214 yr I cant wait for these releases. I cant fly the pmdg 747 now cause the cockpit is so dated compared to the ngx. I am taking it slow on the ngx now also, because im afraid i am going to get bored of it. Bored perhaps isnt the right word, but because I have no other short haul plane to use, I am limited to the ngx. Cant wait to get back in the air doing some long hauls.... 1st one being nzaa to klax in the 777 in air new zealand all blacks livery. :) drooool.... These new PMDG aircraft since the NGX are a real double edge sword for me. I cant bring myself to fly anything else after the NGX. It's like a drug. The more you do the higher your tollerence gets(Or intollerance for other aircraft). The other day I tried to satiate my apetite to learn a new aircraft and the only one I found with enough realism was the maddog MD80. In the end I did not buy it because of the newer textures and level of detail you guys put into the NGX. Once you fly with dust, you cant fly whithout dust. I to find that I have to curtail my flights as I tend to get burned out as well. So I want a new aircraft but I cant bring myself to buy anything from anyone else. It is like a disease, a good one at that. I have found that keeping the pasion alive means more difficult approaches like Unalaska the other day in the 700. Anyway, I am sure we will be blown away with the new 747 at least as blown as when the NGX came out if not more. Marc Lynn
April 25, 201214 yr I know it's old........but it's oh so good :) I'll be waiting with baited breath fir the new release too. Some of the things I'd like to see are....... The beacon light changed to flash at the right rate (It blinks too fast), Better annimations of the engine start-up (Fans), Weather Radar, Heat Haze behind engines. The ability to have ground support vehicles and a realistic push back tug wherever you are. One user mentioned about having the Jepp charts available on the flight deck, that's hot. How about having a couple of pilots up front too. In the VC, just seeing open seats is kinda weird :) The biggest thing that I think would add to the product line would be to add "visual" options for the 747-100, 200, 300 and SP. Just based on the -400 flight deck, like the 748. When the question is raised about what changes we'd like to see, I hope you understand that I really do still love the current version. I fly it most days. I'm excited to fly the new one, and I'm sure it will be all that can be done with available technology. PMDG rules, and I will forever be a customer. April 25, 201214 yr I still fly 747v1 occasionally. Somthing about the 747's tan VC that is very inviting. The 747F is also pretty much a medium-haul bird when fully loaded with cargo. I also enjoy the MD-11F alot too, it is my go-to long hauller at least until the 777-F is out. The MD has some really great features for long hauls such as auto stepclimbing....perfect for overnighters. I took off at night from Memphis enroute to Tokyo Haneda. Wen't to bed cruising at FL320...woke up cruising at FL380 with about 1400NM to go.
