Reason for yoke being flipped on the first officers side?

Recommended Posts

I was on a few 757's and 737's the past few days and I noticed that the trim and such was flipped on the first officers side and wondered if there was any reasoning behind that?

On a totally off topic side note, Robert wasn't kidding that the flightdecks get realllllly dirty!

That was the cleaner one and still look at all the grime around the throttle quadrant base!

Because you usually hold yoke with one hand and other hand is on throttle levers. So, FO hold his left hand at throttle and it would be really tricky to press buttons at the left side of yoke with his right hand.

Ok that makes sense, never thought about how to hold the throttle and trim!

So can trim with your thumb and have your other hand on Throttles.

On an unrelated note, those screenshots really make me want to fly the 757-200.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I don't think those are screenshots! If they are tell me what sim that is.

It's the most realistic flight simulation out there, real life!

A small Paint brush works wonders for that dirt.

To my knowledge, groomers aren't aloud into the cockpit to clean, only the cabin/lavs/galleys...

American Airlines uses the single-cue attitude indicator? I thought they used the 3-axis one...

Personally, I think the single cue is much easier to fly than the dual cue. I'm dreading the day when I have to fly a plane with a dual cue FD.

Anybody know why they even have two different types? I know it probably stems back from the airlines following the guages they used to have, but why did they come out with two different FD cues to begin with?

I prefer the dual cue in FS since the single cue always gives me an impression that I'm climbing because its a triangle pointing up.
