Disapointing....maybe the A2A guys will come with an accusim Gooney Bird.

I made a similar suggestion to the people at A2A and they said they would not due to there respect for MAAM. But now that it is know that MAAM will no longer be produce a native FSX product (and probably no Prepar3d products either) maybe things will change.

I had also advocated a colaboration between these two organizations for a mutually benefitial agreement to produce a really fine DC3 which I feel would eventually become an iconic product.

Bill Rambow, if your not reading this, then you should be!

How can you let this happen without any comments at all? Please do us all, the faithful and your devotees the honour of explaining what is or not happening so we can all move on.

Like you said Jan.....All good things must end....It is really sad to see you leave....But when your heart is no longer in it, it must be done. We all will miss your designs, as even though they were of aircraft built in the real world, these planes and features were unique to you...You not only recreated these planes, you created new aircraft, for all of us to enjoy, and in doing so lost your enjoyment for creating...All of us who have purchased these birds owe you a great deal.....

Please dont stop visiting us here, as you and everyone at MAAM-SIM are not just model makers, but family to many of us here.....

Hope to see you in the skies sometime flying with us....

One day the love and desire to create will return, even for just a little while....Till then dont be sad about leaving, because you wont be gone, just moving on to bigger and better things....

Now go climb into one of your prized planes and take a flight, and watch for us out here...

We all will be happy to join up on your wing, for a spin over the country side.....

Thank you very much for your heartwarming and highly appreciated comments, gents. I finally have the time now to enjoy FS like you all do. I am one of you now. With all the amazing new aircraft and sceneries that have been released for FSX over the past year(s) i feel like a little boy in a toy shop !

I also took the chance to 'refamiliarize' myself with FS9 and learn to appreciate its pro's towards FSX by something i've always wanted to learn but never found the time for: seriously flying modern airliners. A real treat regarding fps compared to FSX. I was actually quite surprised how well FS9 can still be made to look nowadays once the necessary ingredients have been added. It even made me decide to finally follow my long last 'FS dream' : instead of flying FS thru means of the inevitable monitor and plastic joystick/yoke fly it once and for all from a 'real' cockpit. Atleast that's what i'm aiming for to realize in the coming months ( maybe years... )

So, yes, i hope to be riding along on the FS train for a long time to come but not upfront in the cab anymore. This time just as a passenger, not having to worry about time tables, aspects, speed limits, AWS, PZB and all that stuff anymore (i'll leave that for Railworks), just enjoy the ride and see where it gets me.

Thank you all again for understanding my decision, dear friends, it means a LOT to me !

Cheers,

Jan

Jan

Jan,

I have been flying the MAAM-SIM R4D since the FS2002 model, then went to the B25 Briefing Time and even to this day, i feel that you were one of the most efficient and enthusiastic designers I had the chance to meet at Reading. It is indeed a Sad Day but I support you and your decision and hope you the best time.

I will miss you giving us advice and tips and the work on all the future aircraft.

I hope that MAAM can find someone to replace you and continue the production of future aircraft.

Again, the best of everything to you and your family.

I am afraid this is too late for Jan to read this, but I just wanted to add my own thanks for the amazing contributions you have made through the years to our hobby. And in some ways, it's been even more than a hobby.

I flew right seat on what was the last scheduled DC3 service in New Zealand - a small start-up company that began with a single DC3 -- ZK-CAW. After a few months it was sold and my last memories of it was parking it at Christchurch airport where it would be picked up by its new owners. I recall sitting there after we shut down just listening to that tinkling sound of the cylinders as they started to cool. I was a young guy with my whole career still ahead of me, but the Captain was retiring with the aircraft so this was his last flight. It was a poignant moment that is indelibly etched in my memory.

Several years ago I replicated that flight using your MAAM model and ended the flight in the same parking location. I had tears in my eyes. You brought back to me an amazing memory....

So thank you for all you contributed and perhaps some day the joy will return and we'll see you back in the community. If not Jan, you can know that not only did you produce beautiful works of art and astonishing examples of technology - you also touched lives

Cheers

Ian
