April 23, 201214 yr Guys, Im think of buying these two sceneries from Imagine Sim. A while ago I heard there where problems with KATL V2 and the night lighting...has that been resolved and are the Airports that Imagine Sim (Katl KIAH) up-to-date in terms of Layout (new new runways or taxiways)? Cheers! Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
April 23, 201214 yr As representations of the airports, both are reasonable sceneries even if (IMO) slightly overpriced. A more reasonable price will be seen if puchasing Just Flight's: World Airports Series boxes. If you're running FSX Acceleration, their runway/papi lights are not compatible (SP2 is fine). As for fully correct taxiway layout, all I can say is that it was probably correct at the time of release. If you decide to get KATL, I have removed several errors from the scenery and added mipmaps to most of the textures (which makes it look infinitely better!). I would be happy to pass this on to you if you'd like. Also you might want to check various reviews for the products :)
April 23, 201214 yr I own them both. FPS come to a screeching halt at night in KIAD v2. KATL v2 works fine. April 23, 201214 yr With the new intl terminal F at katl and along with the texturing looking very dated, it needs a redo. I am very surprised after all these years the only rendition we have of katl is this old imaginesim one. Thought a FT/FSDT type quality would have been released by now. Eric
April 23, 201214 yr I wouldn't be surprised if FSDT or FlyTampa tackle these airports in the near future. May 18, 201214 yr The support staff from ImagineSim was kind enough to help me correct the FPS problem with KIAD v2. They recently announced updates to KATL, which I hope covers the new terminal, KDTW, KMSY, and KCLT. All their sceneries are AES compatible. May 18, 201214 yr This is the announcement, but no date: "We will announce details of our next new airport product for FS2004 and FSX here. In the meantime we will be working on new versions of KDTW Detroit and KMSY New Orleans, and updates to KATL Atlanta and KCLT Charlotte to reflect recent changes at these airports." http://imaginesim.com/future01.htm Also, the Blueprint Simulations version of KIAD has a more updated layout compared to the latest one from Imagine Sim. Imagine Sim has the advantage of moving jetways when AES credits are purchased. May 19, 201214 yr Moderator I wouldn't be surprised if FSDT or FlyTampa tackle these airports in the near future. Umberto at FSDT had mentioned a few times that they might be interested in doing KATL after Vancouver is complete. I would buy it even though I have the Imaginesim version just to have a more up to date version that is a little better looking and most likely a better performer. I admit to having gone back to v1 of KATL. I tried v2 but hated the look of the runway lights so I uninstalled and put back the original. I actually get really good performance at KATL during the day and night with v1, but the low res ground textures look like something from the older FS9 days. Although their version is still much better than default imho. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
