For those that have been waiting impatiently for the DropBox alternative, it's alive as of today, with a windows and 'Droid client already available. I had previously paid for 80GB for $20/year with google docs, and yes that entire storage came over. :) That means I can finally put all my picasa photos, online cloud storage, and everything else into ONE place. :)

 

Link for anyone that wants to check it out...and for new users, you get 5GB free...which is 2.5 times what dropbox gives. :)

I think you need to read the link and follow to the bottom. It's working, I was able to install on a Windows machine and my droid phone. And lifehacker.com carried the story as well, I'd say it's working fine.

I tried that and it says they will email me when its ready....maybe only ready in the US.

Not ready for me either. I'm really happy with DropBox, I have enough space at 8.4GBs and when my work is spread across several computers, it goes into DropBox. And its like a file sharing application too!

I'm guessing from all the replies that it is US only right now....but to each their own when you can get to it...Personally I prefer ONE login for all my apps, coupled with a double-authentication app on my phone...so even if someone were to hack me, unless they have the app authorized to my codes, which is on my phone, they cant get in. :)

 

I installed last night on my PC at home and Droid phone....love it to far. And with the 80GB as I said I purchased for $20/year....lovin it! :)

 

Maybe they rolled it out to their google docs / storage / picasa account holders first?

Yeah not available yet and I have everyone of googles services. I'll use the free one for another place to store stuff.
