Flight interest dwindling...too bad

Featured Replies

I think they can make it work, by giving something to both segments of the market, ie more casual gamer and the more serious simmer.

I believe that is the foundation they have laid for going forward, and I fully expect we will see more of what we want as time goes by. It will never be a full blown FS11, but I do have the faith it will have more of what simmers want to see in the months ahead.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that they need to give to both segments. But

1) Why wouldn't MS communicate with us that they intend to cater to enthusiast too and take out the resentment? (JH went out of his way to dismiss enthusiasts in his interviews)

2) how can they do that with 2 scenery releases a year? If you don't care for an area, then you are stuck navigating an area for an entire year!

So what happens when the full depth of Flight is realized? Any new customer at that point is going to jump right into the 787 and be overwhelmed, undermining what you say is the entire strategy.

I have never understood that argument. Why can't we have an easy mode and professional mode?

I thought JH had stated, their goal was a scenery dlc release app every quarter?

That would be 4 times a year if true - of course, remains to be seen if that will happen.

I agree that their communication has been a disaster, MS has been too confident and too smug about the whole thing. And I also think it is odd that they underestimated the simmer's (1.5 million+ fans) response to the game, again part of the communication problem.

However, I believe MS views the addon market as their precious, they view it as their key to success. They want people to be starved for the next DLC to hit the market, and the last thing they want is folks on the message board saying "I'll skip the p-40 because the deluxe 172 w/tundra tires is better". It's the whole reason why we are on this "journey", one nickel at a time.

It's their own fault for underestimating the dislike for the basic warbirds (another communication problem).

Yeah you're probably right about them trying to starve the market. However deluxe versions are more complicated, so if they target another part of the market maybe they would be fine even if they revealed future deluxe content while offering "standard" content, I don't know.

+1 to frankla's posts btw.

OK, That is enough.
