Hi all, over at the Ford Tri-Motor Project site we have available some very unique scenery designed just for your flying pleasure.

 

The latest to be released is an entire airfield burried within a mountain in Switzerland. Yes, a whole airfield, buildings and all.

 

Two runways - one external to the mountain running across the face and another partially into the mountain.

 

There is an easy tunnel take off option leaving from runway 18 end or you can take the hard route - take off from runway 36, flying back into the mountain and climb out through a tunnel to the rear. Also a fun challenge coming down the glide slope through the tunnel to touchdown on runway 18.

 

Try it out with a Ford Tri-Motor to make it a really tight flight :-)

Freeware developers put in a great deal of time and effort to create things for the simming community - some of it average and some of it very good - but ALL of it is gifted to the community by people doing the best that they can with the tools available to them.

 

Sometimes we all forget that the foundation of the majority of the flight sim sites are based on and continue to exist by providing FREEWARE to the simming community. Tens of thousands of hobby tinkering people provide a considerable amount of the stuff that most use every day.

 

Who of us does not regularly check the major sites to see what is new and particularly what FREEWARE is available.

 

Those that give freely of their time, skills, effort and often commit personal finances to be able to provide there work for FREE to the community mostly do so because they enjoy the hobby and the community.

Excellent scenery and original idea! Thank you for creating it.

Looking forward to trying the approach and that entrance to runway 18 - think the Fravin C150, Fieseler Storch or Yak-18T would be perfect to try it out with. Also looks like Milton Shupe's D18S and Xomer's An-2 might fit the tunnel as well. So many planes to try it out with............ of course with the Ford Trimotor too.

 

I've been very impressed with the Ford Trimotor project site itself - really like the layout and vintage feel! There's some very unique scenery available there, including a New Zealand Space Port island!

Edward C. Moore and I have been having an absolute ball with the Ford Project - and I am glad some of it is "entertainment" for some of you.

 

Trying hard to give a good historical tribute to the Ford Tri-Motor and it's place in history. And of course adding some serious scenery such as the historical Ford Factory airfield. But it would not be fun without some fictional airfield and those are intended totally as some visual candy and for the simple pleasure of some flying challenges here and there.

 

Even have some Jigsaw Puzzles available on the Ford site - Just some entertainment way out in left field for those times when you want a break from flying.

 

All up there is well over 1000 things to download at the site - not bad for a small FREEWARE Project :-)

Downloaded it, flew the runway 18 approach with a cessna and the trimotor, got both through first attempt although it was close and scary at times, love it.

 

This is a great idea and real fun to fly, nice work guys.
