The new way to Train the Speech Recognizer for "Specific Words" like Auto

Featured Replies

Never had a problem with "auto" but I can't get it to recognise "kilograms" of fuel no matter what I do. It's OK with "tons" though so although it may not be strictly correct, I say "9.3 tonnes" rather than "9 3 0 0 kilograms".

It's a long time ago I mentioned this but I have since spotted that the Windows Speech Recognition types "kgs" when I say "kilograms", so it doesn't matter how I pronounce it.

Can I clarify what the correct script is?

The co-pilot says "Fuel" and I say "9.3 tonnes, pumps on".  He moves on to the next checklist item without saying anything.

Is he supposed to call the fuel weight back?

Not sure why the speech reco system is typing kgs for kilograms.

There's probably some setting somewhere to control that.

You may want to ask Microsoft.

When you respond to the Fuel challenge, the FO moves to the next checklist item as per the Boeing 737 checklist.  He doesn't confirm it.

Cheers,

That's good, in that case it works perfectly.

  • 2 months later...

After reinstalling Windows and FSX after I hardware upgrade I have problems with some words and responses. One of them is when i want to reply with the speedbrake setting being set to RTO.

What would be the correct way to type in that word into the dictionary, simply RTO or should I use spaces as in R T O to indicate you actually read out the letters one by one?

Then another thing I just like to mention for anyone not already aware of it. If you are about to reinstall Windows a good idea would be to download a free tool from MS that will let you save your speech recog profile and then when you've reinstalled Windows you can simply restore your profile so you don't have to go through all the training again. The tool is called Windows Speech Recognition Profile Tool, unfortunately I didn't save the link but I'm sure you'll be able to find it if you Google for it. Wish I had found out about this tool myself before reinstalling Windows rather than after...

I can't get him to "select lnav". Can you please help me? I already did the speech dictionary but the problem still exists :(

That drives me crazy! The only think he understands is "n one".

Do you see "Select LNAV" in the Green Bar when you say it?

If you do, it means and LNAV is not being turned on, it means you have not met the conditions for LNAV to be engaged... you can try manually pressing the LNAV button to test.

No the only thing he understands is "select n one". Conditions? Maybe that's the case but I don't know which conditions I must met?!

Just keep saying "Select L NAV" in different ways until you finally see it in the green bar.

That command works fine for me.

Where are you from?
