April 30, 201214 yr The RV7 is a great plane and I can recommend it. Please post a link. This is just the thread I was looking for. Been flying the FSD Piper Navajo into and out of Darrington, but I feel she is too fast for making the approach into Rwy28 at Darrington. Rick Almeida
April 30, 201214 yr The F33 is still my favorite all-round airplane... it has a fully featured cockpit and looks great with a 430W and FLT gauges. The RV7 needs a 530W and looks great in it's own right. One thing to note is that the autopilot in the F33 is a traditional design with altitude preselect, whereas the RV7 has a simple autopilot with only vs, heading, and GPSS modes. Both great planes though! If you do get the F33, let me know so I can send you an autopilot update.. Please post a link. For the RV7: www.baytower.ca Bert
April 30, 201214 yr Yes, it does. You can set climb rate and altitude hold. BTW, the RV7 is a more nimble and exciting plane than the Bonanza, like a two seater sports car, compared to the family sedan.. Bert
April 30, 201214 yr I'll also recommend the RV7. You have asked more about gauges and speed, rather than FDE, but the flight dynamics on the RV7 are truly impressive. I've put here through her paces and can't find anything to complain about. In a four point roll, for instance, she models correctly the difficulty of holding the final (270 degree) position. She has that still rare quality of feeling as if she is moving through actual air rather than just pointing wherever the stick input tells her to. I fly her into exceedingly short airstrips. The SonicSoundSoulitions sound package (included) is one of the highlights of the aircraft. And there's a reason that this is the best selling homebuilt aircraft of all time. Slow enough to land on backcountry strips but fast enough to get somewhere in a hurry, while having the ability to carve a few patterns through the air on the way. That's a complete package!
April 30, 201214 yr Without doubt, I enjoyed flying my RV(6) on scenic cross country flights...............more than the Bonanza, in which I've been a front seat passenger. A friend owns the Bonanza, but often flies various RV models for the fun of it, as well as first flight tests. I feel that the Bonanza was more of a "sedate" station wagon. I also much prefer the canopy view from an RV. L.Adamson
April 30, 201214 yr Thank you so much guys for your fantastic and helpful answers! The flight dynamics are very important for me. That's why I chose the F33 with FD by Bernt Stolle in this comparison. But the RV-7 seems to be the overall winner. And since it is sold via Flight 1, with the 30 days refund possibility, I can't do anything wrong. I'll download her tonight. Just one last question: How is she on the frames? Thanks again and greets, Michael
May 1, 201214 yr Well, that's debatable. And it does have a frame rate impact, doesn't it? It's also a twin.
May 1, 201214 yr Nice grass, nice trees, nice video! Unfortunately, also shows the "Collins Comm" NAV radio in the panel.. Bert
May 1, 201214 yr Nice grass, nice trees, nice video! Unfortunately, also shows the "Collins Comm" NAV radio in the panel.. Whats wrong with the Collins Radio ? You looking for King Avionics or something ? Whats your system specs. There shouldn't be a problem with the Skymaster in terms of FPS. All depends on your settings and your specs.
May 1, 201214 yr Hi! The only problem with the Skymaster is that I already have it! ;-) And I like it, without a doubt! For this time, the decision was on a single prop engine, and actually only between the F33 and the RV-7. I bought and installed the RV-7 yesterday and took her for a short first trip around the KSEA area. It is a really nice addon, very well done, easy on the frames, very authentic soundset and agile handling. But I am still not sure if it is what I am looking for. Somehow I prefer the heavier feel of the slightly bigger planes like the C177. I also own the Aerosoft Katana and I barely fly it, maybe for exact that reason. I'll test her a little more extensive tonight!
May 1, 201214 yr Whats wrong with the Collins Radio ? You looking for King Avionics or something ? It is just a visual thing... the NAV radio should be labeled "Collins NAV" which it is in the real world - but Carenado decided that this was not worth fixing.. Bert
May 1, 201214 yr It is just a visual thing... the NAV radio should be labeled "Collins NAV" which it is in the real world - but Carenado decided that this was not worth fixing.. Is it really that big a deal? Its more likely a trademark problem. They werent given permission for their logo so they arent legally allowed to use it. Ive noticed this is an aerosoft Glider where there would be noticeable Peltor Headsets hanging from the Canopy. But aerosoft deliberately named the inscription as " Peltror" instead of " Peltor " because of copyright issues. Its a stupid decision as those companies would be getting free publicity from aerosoft if they were to used officially. But God if that bothers you, by all means do not buy the Carenado Grand Caravan, Because theres an problem with their door manager on that specific aircraft. You can only open the Captains door while all of the other cargo doors cant be opened. Carenado are aware of this glitch and decided to do absolutely nothing about it . Such a shame IMO. Because with the caravan you will be opening cargo doors and passenger doors frequently.
