Best Ultimate Traffic 2 Settings

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently decided to purchase Ultimate Traffic 2 from Flight1. So far, this has been an excellent purchase and I am greatly enjoying this addon. The main issue that I am having is not knowing how to adjust my traffic density settings. The UT2 config manager is a bit complex so any help would be greatly appreciated. -- I also spent a good amount of time reading the documentation so I have a general understanding of what each settings does. Any ideas on which settings to use to get the best aircraft density to performance ratio? (My specs are in signature.)

With your system you can run very high setting as far as traffic is concerned. The great thing about UT2 is that you can adjust the traffic density while flying, like for me I would leave EGCC Manchester with 100% and when on approach to EGLL Heathrow drop it down to 50% just by hitting a key.

With your system you shouldnt have any problem even with traffic on full, its more a matter of how much you want to hear listening to ATC (if you use that). The GA traffic is adjustable but the airline traffic is on schedules, so even if its at 100%, you wont see it unless the schedule calls for it, and it depends a lot on the time of day and location.

I have almost the identical system to yours running @ 4.7GHz and run UTll with airline traffic at 100% without any issues even at EGLL.

I wasn't terribly happy with framerates (using addon aircraft) when I set both traffic sliders somewhat high. But now I just set airline traffic to 100% and GA to 20%, if I'm doing that type of flying. Otherwise I set both to about 35% for GA flying.

Also, initially I misunderstood the purpose of the framerate limit slider in UT2, and had it set to 30, so my AI traffic was disapearing as UT2 tried to let FS maintain 30 FPS. DON"T do that. Set that slider in UT2 to "0" (OFF), or maybe about 15 at the most.

So, I have set my traffic density to 100%. What should I adjust maximum aircraft to spawn to? i set it at 50. Is this too low?

I left it at the default 500 or 600, but I must admit I'm confused about that option's relation to the traffic density sliders.

The lowest setting I've ever seen anyone use or suggest is 200.

If you really want to tweak your traffic then the best thing to do is set Weekly to 100% and then go into the Database Management section. There you can uncheck all the airlines that do not operate out of the airports you will be departing from and arriving at. This will reduce global air traffic enroute but ensure that there is plenty of traffic when you depart and arrive.
