That's fulfilling a long expressed goal of theirs. That is, forums such as AVSIM's are not creating community for them. Long before the ACES team was disbanded, they were working on the social media aspect of the Internet and trying to coalesce that community on their systems and fora. That comes as no surprise to us.

The dev team does read this forum. Earlier I noticed one reading this thread.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I think they use the Steam Forums because they have moderation control in their own hands with that. The support they've been providing through that has been really quite impressive, IMO. I don't usually see game developers interact on that level with the players, but admittedly I come from a console background where intricate troubleshooting with the players isn't necessary as often.

and lets face it the folks who's job it is to interact with the community can only cover so much ground. They are checking all the main forums even if they do not post. There are also some folks who are in contact with them and will alert them to specific issues reported in forums that they are not actively engaged in. At most there are three or four of the Flight Team actively engaged and with the 'day job' that spreads them thin...

Ironic, since Avsim might be the one and only positive (unless I post a rant in the Flight forum) and helpful forum supporting Flight. There is certainly no goodwill on their Facebook page!! MS owes a great deal of gratitude to Avsim for sure.
