I guess I don't understand the aerochaches. (and I've flown a bunch of them)

 

I checked this morning before 8:00 AM PDT and the aerochace was one I'd flown.

 

I checked after 8:00 AM PDT and it was a different aerochache, but one I've also flown.

 

Are we done with getting any new aerochaches? If so, that's a shame.

 

And the aerochache records don't seem to agree, depending on where you look.

 

1. The Aerochache Hunt page says: "99 out of 53" (doesn't make much sense does it)

 

2. My Pilot profile page says I've completed 99 (and this seems to change for no apparant reason, it was 96 yesterday and I didn't fly any more aerocaches, so not sure how it got to 99)

 

3. My awards page shows that I've received the Aerocache - 100 award (awarded 4/29/2012).

 

Do others have problems with the aerocaches?

They are repeating to allow people to "regain" the ones that were not recorded due to a bug in the previous update.

Bummer. I wish they would continue to give us NEW aerocaches.

They are just temporarily screwing around with the aerocaches because of the bug. After May 17 I think they will go back to the normal 1 aerocache per day.

 

Also, because they are repeating the ones from the last few weeks, it screws up your total count, but that should also fix itself after May 17. There have been a few threads here and at the steam forum explaining all of that.

 

As for the 99 out of 53 thing, that is because there are 53 normal aerocaches, the rest are from daily aerocaches. I don't know why they can't find a better way of representing it than what they have now, but it doesn't really matter.

And after 17. May there will be Alaska aerocaches. Maybe? Hopefully.

That's the earliest possible date for Alaska, yeah. Sure would be nice!

 

I think we'd have seen a new "teaser" on the Flight page by now, though, if that was the case.

I notice today's Aerocache was developed by the geographically impaired:

 

NAME: Kaena Point 10K

HINT: 10,000 feet above the northeast point of Oahu.

 

Except that they placed the Aerocache off the westernmost corner of Oahu. Grrr...

Well, Kaena Point is the westernmost corner of Oahu. The Aerocache is in the right spot; the description of it is wrong.

 

That's better than the "Pali Highway" one they put on the H-3 freeway. I kept flying back and forth, back and forth, saying "#####? Where is it?"

Nice to see that the "new aeros's" are working properly again.
