May 17, 201214 yr I recently downloaded the Jersy (EGJJ) airport scenery and noticed the airfield is surrounded by black boxes with trees in them. When I switch to "top down" view they appear as dozens of light blue "blobs" around 3 sides of the airfield. I know very little of scenery design and tried just deleting the trees in the Texture folder. It deletes the trees but leaves the large black boxes. I would love know how best overcome this as the rest of this freeware scenery is quite good. 301200 - Global + Vector, 303039 - Open LC EU + England, 317055 - Scotland, 325640 - Southampton, 345294 - Wales, 350530 - Ireland, 378458 - Norway, 379681 - Sumburgh, 406229 - Open LC North America, Alaska and Canada, 439617 - Australia SP4, 447800 - NZ North Island, 447804 - NZ South Island
May 17, 201214 yr The fix will depend on what scenery you are using (filename and download location) and what sim you are using it in. Without complete info I can only guess. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
May 17, 201214 yr Hello Tony, When you delete the textures, you still leave the object. Without textures, they will show those "black boxes". To delete the trees correctly, you must eliminate the objects. From what you mention, it would seem that scenery is for FS 9, so the tree transparency won't work in FS X. Your options are limited: either de-compile the scenery bgl to remove all the individual tree objects, or not use the scenery. Too bad. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
May 18, 201214 yr Hi Tony, Luis is right. Your bgl file ( Jersey.bgl ) includes the trees and it is in a very old FS 9 SCA format. You can decompile it with an old BGLAnalyse tool, but the result is a sca source file. Very specific and has nothing to do with an XML source. Sorry for all this bad news. Dietmar
May 18, 201214 yr Author Sorry guys I should have said this is specifically made for FSX and it is "jersey.zip" which can be found in the Avsim library under FSX Scenery. As I suspected their is no real fix for this and Tim Clayton, the builder, canr be reached on the hotmail address in his "read me" file. I understand from the chaps in our VA that Earth Simulations are working on a Payware version. Thanks anyway. 301200 - Global + Vector, 303039 - Open LC EU + England, 317055 - Scotland, 325640 - Southampton, 345294 - Wales, 350530 - Ireland, 378458 - Norway, 379681 - Sumburgh, 406229 - Open LC North America, Alaska and Canada, 439617 - Australia SP4, 447800 - NZ North Island, 447804 - NZ South Island
May 18, 201214 yr Hi Tony: Indeed there are efforts underway to make a new FSX compatible version of Jersey Island (and apparently by more than 1 party). If you are inclined to fix things up for yourself at EGJJ by learning a bit about FS scenery building, although an original thread on the topic of UK's Jersey Island from this forum seems to have now vanished from the AVSIM archives, a subsequent thread on that topic over at FSDEVELOPER is still intact if you'd be interested in reviewing it: http://www.fsdevelop...ead.php?t=19045 PS: That 2-page thread also has a link back to yet another interesting and informative thread on working with FS Jersey Island scenery here at AVSIM Scenery Design Forum. Hope this helps ! GaryGB
