June 9, 201213 yr Hello! I have been running (even today) FSX with my old Drivers 295.73 in windows 7 64bits with my Nvidia 580 ngx without any problem. Today I updated drivers to final 301.42 and when I started FSX a window appeared: Invalid Hardware or Driver Detected. This graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geforce3/radeon8500 calls or better graphics card. Flight Simulator will now exit I have reinstalled the 295.73 again drivers. Nothing. Deleted FSX.cfg nothing, looked in google. Nothing. I am desperate. Don't know what to do. Clearly something did the new drivers because I was flying today with the old 295.73 drivers. Any help? thanks! Javier Rollon. Owner of JRollon Planes for Xplane
June 9, 201213 yr How did you uninstall your previous drivers ? The correct method now is to uninstall fromControl Panel/Program & Features, REBOOT then select custom install and clean install in the new driver install. It is not recommended to use driver sweeper with the latest drivers. June 9, 201213 yr I have had this happen to me when FSX has not shut down properly. Try rebooting the computer and starting FSX again DIMITRI

June 9, 201213 yr Author yes.. they are the 64 drivers.. Yes.. I am uninstalling.. nothing for now... Javier Rollon. Owner of JRollon Planes for Xplane
June 9, 201213 yr Author Nothing to do.. even I went back to 285 drivers.. installing in secure mode after uninstalling the others.. Nothing.. WHYYYYY!!!!!?????? Javier Rollon. Owner of JRollon Planes for Xplane
June 9, 201213 yr Reinstall the latest drivers as Julian has stated above. When installing, specify to run the installer as administrator. Then, right click on FSX exe and run it in compatibility mode for win Vista. Report back. DIMITRI
June 9, 201213 yr Author Did all.. and the compatibility process.. Nothing. I have lost FSX Others programs runs without problem. Format and reinstall is a no-no. I uninstalled the drivers and the "windows loading" screen didn't disappear... Then I reset and it went back to the old drivers.. loaded FSX and was ok.. Installed again the old drivers and no loading FSX Tried to do the same, uninstall but now when rebooting always appears the "windows loading" and the only way to see windows in in safe mode. I have to install any drivers. Anytime I install any drivers trying to load FSX the same window appears. Deleting fsx.cfg does the same... so it is not a duplicated line. Really don't know what to do. Well it is too late have to go to sleep and won't be able to test anything until Monday. :(((((( Javier Rollon. Owner of JRollon Planes for Xplane
June 9, 201213 yr Have you tried running a system restore to a point before you originally installed the new drivers? If not you may want to give try.

The correct method now is to uninstall fromControl Panel/Program & Features, REBOOT then select custom install and clean install in the new driver install. It is not recommended to use driver sweeper with the latest drivers. Actually, no, both ATI and nVidia now recommend installing over the old driver. See instructions on the web site. Q: Do I need to uninstall my older driver first? A: No. It used to be the case that an uninstall was first required. Today the recommended method is to overinstall the newer driver on top of your older driver. This will allow you to maintain any current NVIDIA Control Panel settings or profiles. http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/drivers_faq_uk.html
June 9, 201213 yr @Japo32 I had a similar issue trying to completely flush out new and old Nvidia drivers and other bits. So, I would recommend you use Driver Sweeper and look under everything related to Nvidia in the GUI. Re-boot, then install a fresh copy of that 301.42 driver. Should work in theory. Rick Almeida
June 9, 201213 yr Actually, no, both ATI and nVidia now recommend installing over the old driver. See instructions on the web site. Hi Martin, Now I am confused, and that does not take much :) According to NickN @ simforums, he said Quote " New instructions are posted by Nvidia about driver upgrades.. you MUST completely uninstall the Nvidia driver from Programs and Features and do NOT USE the device manager or overwrite the drivers using CLEAN INSTALL. The <Advanced Installation> Clean Install process available in new Nvidia drivers is ONLY to be used after the video driver has been completely uninstalled using Programs and Features in Windows and the system rebooted. Never use driver rollback...! Issue has been noted by Microsoft in a KB as well as Nvidia " End Quote *********************************************************************************** So if you are wondering where I got the info I posted above, that was where. I am not saying he is right or wrong, as I tend to follow the majority.
