FSGS: Massively disturbed by reactions I've read...

Featured Replies

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous threads I have ever read. I nave used the service, as I've stated before, and the results were amazing. I am not a rookie with computers or tweaking but figured I'd try it becuase if you don't like it, you don't pay for it. What did I have to lose. I used it. And I was happy to pay for it.People don't "share" the "process" (it is a process)for a couple of reason in my opinion. 1. Just giving a list of the changes that were done to any particular system would probably do more harm than good. All systems are different and what works on one may not work on the other.2. Most people are honest and ethical enough not to break a trust that is asked of you.

>1. Just giving a list of the changes that were done to any>particular system would probably do more harm than good. All>systems are different and what works on one may not work on>the other.Of course, most people haven't mentioned that and choose to perpetuate the myth that it is something nefarious on the part of FS-GS for them to not want the information of what was done given out.As someone else said, they are not even making twice minimum wage with this. Some need to mind their own business and let people decide what they want to do with their money, whether it's for convenience (NOT laziness) or anything else. For some, even if they could spend the time looking up every hardware tweak there is, probably spending much longer than the session with FS-GS, they risk the chance of screwing something up without the "handholding" of a consultant, and a very cheaply paid one at that.I agree, this thread is a crock.

"I agree, this thread is a crock. "You really should take the time to read the ENTIRE thread.I believe FS-GS offers a worthwhile service, but some of these posts by their customers don't serve the business well at all. These are posts written by folks who either haven't taken the time to read the thread, or have done so and chosen to ignore the concerns of Elrond and Dick. Either way, you guys aren't doing FS-GS any good by attacking those who raise the points originally posted by Elrond.Let's get this straight one final time... NOBODY HAS ATTACKED FS-GS FOR THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE. READ WHAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN IN THIS THREAD. You may not agree with the concerns, but at least respect those who have presented them at the same level you wish folks to respect what FS-GS does.Greg

Hi Elrond, Thanks for your positive reply! Don't rush if you're busy, it can wait a while. Look forward to seeing some good leads as soon as you're able of course. I looked around for some sites, and have already applied some basic tweaks, but some advice does conflict on various sites so I left those bits alone until I know more. Thanks again and regards,

Elrond, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I see what you're saying. At some point in the near or distant future, after FSGS has been so successful, a lot of people are gonna be using their service. And there will come a point when someone will come to the avsim forums and say: "Please help, my FS9 keeps stuttering and I'm only getting 2FPS". Unfortunately, the answer may very well be a simple post of a link to FSGS website (or some other similar company that has no doubt started up after realising the incredible cash cow that's present in that business with the free spending FS community)/ And when/if that day comes it will be a crying shame. Obviously, there will be someone replying to that thread with some little piece of advice like "maybe you could try shutting down background programs". But to get really good advice about what to do, you will have to click on that link and fork over the bucks.Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. But what's wrong is that people will no longer be willing go help others or share their experiences with that annoying little stutter. Why.......well I paid my $60. Why should I help you? Never mind the fact that in the early days we all helped each other, and even the person who doesn't want to help now, used the info that others were only to willing to share when most were having problems at the initial release of FSW95, FS98, FS2000, FS2002 and FS9. But who knows.......come FS2006 most will probably be making a call to FSGS for help.....maybe there won't be an anchored thread on the top of this forum with little tweaks and tricks. Instead, only a link to FSGS.An unlikely scenario? I think not.....And that is what I think that Ultimately Elrond is scared of. As for me? I intend to give FSGS a try....if they help me out....great. And don't look for me to come here and post the tricks and tips that I get from them. I won't. If this is the way that the community is to go.....then by Troy! Let it go this way. Payware hardware Tweaking....the wave of the future. And I'm gonna be right there on the bandwagon with it...:D

>"I agree, this thread is a crock. ">>You really should take the time to read the ENTIRE thread.I have read the ENTIRE thread, so stop making assumptions. And you know what you can do with your "lack of respect" assumption also, I don't need a lecture from YOU.While it wasn't blatantly stated, the whole purpose of this thread seems to be a veiled attack at what FS-GS does. Maybe YOU ought to go back and see some of the language and innuendoes that were used for those who chose not to look things up for themselves, like "ignorance and laziness," despite the later disclaimer.

"the incredible cash cow that's present in that business with the free spending FS community."Making less than $10 an hour for that service is an incredible cash cow???And there will ALWAYS be people that need help...some can't afford a $15 dollar download.

Edam...It's a bummer that you and Elrond--people I respect a great deal, aren't in synch on this. All Elrond was trying to suggest was that the information/tips/insight shared by FSGS was not proprietary--it is available to anyone who knows how to find and use technical resources. I would believe otherwise if I saw results posted that exceeded the best that I've seen here over the past year or two--but I don't. I do see results as good, and I find a great value in that. I believe most here, based on what I eke out of my meager system, should be getting double and triple my performance. Those who've benefited from FSGS have, and those who've tweaked on their own and have done it right also have.FSGS can sell their service on talent alone--I am so convinced of that that even with my skills, I would pay for them to do a walkthrough of any new system I build, so I don't have to waste my time doing it and doing the legwork on a new chipset. And if they told me some tweak that simply didn't exist anywhere else, I'd keep it to myself. It is possible that some of their staff may have indeed worked with mfrs like Nvidia, or ATI, or ASUS, etc....and have picked up unpublished tricks related to that hardware. I would respect their right to ask that such information is protected. But I haven't seen evidence of this in the results people have posted here or in the screenshots posted on their forums, not that screenshots prove or disprove anything. What I do see are really polished results, that are a bargain if you value your time. And the more you earn, the more a bargain because that's what time is worth in my opinion...I think this thread is worth it, because I feel it allows people like me to come out and say it's a wise investment of money--I wasn't motivated in the prior threads since they came from already happy customers. But I also feel the thread is important because some may be left with the impression that a service like this will turn water into wine...can't happen if your system is already running as best as it can. IMHO, most users don't fall into that category based on fsim performance compared to my own...but they can with FSGS's help--I am convinced of that--or with hours of their own study.

"While it wasn't blatantly stated, the whole purpose of this thread seems to be a veiled attack at what FS-GS does."Again, you're not doing FS-GS any good with such statements.I'll depart now... let a guy like you who knows more than anybody have the stage.Have a day,Greg

>While it wasn't blatantly stated, the whole purpose of this>thread seems to be a veiled attack at what FS-GS does. Sorry but it is a blatant lie. I am 100% sure it was never Elrond's 'purpose'. I absolutely agree with Elrond's main point (if you cared to understand what his point was) but at the same time have respect for FS-GS and may even hire them in the near future. So please stop making sweeping generalized statements. Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

Hi John,As usual it's next to impossible to disagree with much of your well thought out post. Thanks for your opinion.

Sadly, it all boils down to what the community now desires from this hobby of ours as a core ideal to strive for and cherish - willing exchange of ideas, advice and experiences or the cultivation and encouragement of selfish behaviour which ultimately will only alienate friends from each another. Should the latter turned out to be the case, then I for one would not wish to be a part of it.Mike

>I'll depart now... let a guy like you who knows more than>anybody have the stage.Excellent! And take your sarcasm with you!Heh...perfect example of "the pot calling the kettle."

A LIE? That was my opinion. It's too bad that you disagree, but I won't resort to what you have exhibited with that response. And I won't stop giving my opinion just because you say so, or don't like that I disagree with your friend.

Elrond,I completely agree to most of what you said. I find it too that FSGS is selling their time rather than tweaks. They should definitely not go about saying that they are selling some proprietary tweaks, something that "we" already don't know. I'm in this community a long time already, searched (probably) every possible tweak for my system and my setup and I think I can say I brough my FS to absolutely maxed out performance on my setup and with the quality I achieve. How? I read the forums, read the posts, search the google and test and compare on my own. So basically, I don't believe FSGS could ever sell me anything useful, except their time. Even if I were in the US, I would maybe invest these $60, but not so that my FS2004 would run faster - and no, I'm sure it would not - but rather to have a good laugh and see people trying to sell me free stuff.BUT, from another point of view... For the people who want to 1) buy the PC 2) install FS2004 3) get some nice addons 4) fly with nice performance, I say it's the perfect solution. If you were one friend of mine who doesn't even know what's registry, would you go into tweaking the system? Editing some .cfg files in some weird directories? Nah, don't think so. All those people want is plug and play basically, and FSGS makes that possible. So, FSGS. Nice service for some, but don't go about saying you are performing miracles ("proprietary information")... Because you surely don't.
