June 15, 201213 yr Yeah I just asked the F/A at the Door and she asked and said yes. I do it on every flight, normally they always allow you if not busy or if the Flight Deck is empty. What?!? I only fly United most of the time, and on my upcoming trip on July 4 to Brazil, I doubt that they will let me in the 767-300ER cabin. When I get to Sao Paulo, I will fly TAM from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre on an Airbus A320, so of course I won't be asking ANYONE to get in the cockpit of that airplane, and I may as well refuse to eat the snack they provide. The return flight is the same route, except I'm going from Porto Alegre to Rio de Janeiro instead, and from RDJ to Houston on a 767-400ER. However, once again, I will go from Porto Alegre to RDJ in an Airbus A320. FML :LMAO: i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
June 15, 201213 yr Author What?!? I only fly United most of the time Ah United, sorry forgot to say, they'll let you in whether there's crew or not :LMAO: Once I landed in SFO from LHR few years back I went in the 772's by my self. F/A just said "Please don't touch anything" :LMAO: - Luke Pabari

I've seen AA pilots let kids in all the time if they are not in a rush to leave although an employee or pilot has to be with you. Alex Jevdic --- KORD A<380-----Love at first flight

Also after landing at LAX on Virgin they were too busy to allow me in, however wasn't fussed, only a A340-600! ANZ Friendliest Airline I've flown to date. - Luke Pabari

The United Houston crew seems nice though, because when I was going to Las Vegas for spring break in a 757-300, the pilot was really chatty and nice and I talked to him for like 10 seconds. LOL only a A340-600! I know, right? I will get that feeling soon. Edited June 15, 201213 yr by linux731 i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

Yea I would probably be one of those pilots that only makes the company mandatory PA or no PA at all if they are not mandatory lol, I'd love to see the A346 cockpit just gotta love how the Airbus blue matches the sky at cruise. June 16, 201213 yr We have people visit us on occasion. Just ask the FA and they will ask us who (unless you are a total D bag) will let you come up front. Even if we are "busy" you can still stand there and look. As long as we don't have maintenance guys coming in or out, or we are closing the door, I couldn't care less if you stood there while we did our preparations and checklists. Heck, I can even talk to you while I do my preparations...it's just not that big of a deal. Ken Nesbitt
June 17, 201213 yr I don't know how it is over there in the US but here in Germany there is a pretty good chance that you can just sit down on the jumpseat if you ask very politely before the flight. (during boarding) The pilots are very kind and they ALWAYS let you in after the landing when the aircraft is parked. There was one flight, where they really had to rush, since they had to make that 20 min turn-around. It was an ARJ85 though, there simply was not the room for a "guest" Everything I heard from United was bad though... LOL With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Following our conversation about this, yesterday I took a day trip to FRA for some spotting with two friends. Of course I flew BAW there, 767 outbound and A319 inbound. Both times went in the Flight Deck and even on the turn around on the 767 the crew were so nice! After arriving in LHR on the 319 the Captain even gave us a little tour of the Flight Deck, answered any questions. A top guy right there along with the First Officer! I hope in a Year's time he'll be my work colleague! - Luke Pabari
June 19, 201213 yr The best way to get to spend some time on the flightdeck before or after the flight is to look into the cockpit if the door is open and maybe they will invite you in or ask the FA and she will ask which seems to be the best way to get in. On my trip to Aruba back in March I got to spend around 10 min in a CRJ, 20 in a 737-800, 25 in a 757 and on the return trip about 10 on each of the 757's I was on and finally around 5 in the ERJ 135, seems to work pretty well on AA, since the crew I had liked their job and understood the passion for flying. One of the crews even found me when we landed and gave me all the paperwork for the flight for me to keep! -Ryan Vince Quote from 911 magazine: "- ...RSR delivers unparallelled performance and stunning looks"
