A quick fly by of Pro ATC

Featured Replies

Hi peppy197, yes it will. If there is no STAR available PRO-ATC/X calculates vectors to get you lined up with the landing runway.

Thanks Mourad for the help! Glad to see you're here to answer some of these questions as non-owners of ProATC can only see what's being said on your forum and not get their question(s) answered directly.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim and thanks. But there is a forum available on www.pointsoftware.de All questions posted here can also be posted there - even by non-owners of PRO-ATC/X. That would really make things easier.

Kind regards

Mourad

Hi Jim,

I agree that with version 1.0.2.9 it's working quite well now. Just had a fun flight EDDM-LIMC with pretty good ATC throughout, nice ambience, easy use of SD, STAR and TA. To my mind, the simplicity of this product is its greatest strength, with just a few clicks you can be up and away having a bit of fun with quite a good simulated flight deck, cabin and ATC background all with minimum fuss.

There's a few minor niggles (e.g. I think it reads QFE instead of QNH, the briefings don't always play, etc) but all in all it's shaping up well. In some ways, it's even simpler to use than the default ATC, but it adds a fair few extras. At this stage, the voices and call-signs available make it eminently suitable for countries around the Alps which is an interesting part of the FS world (although from what you say, it works well elsewhere too).

To my mind, this is exactly what an add-on product should be like - dead easy to use, noticeable enhancement of the FS experience, and allows one to keep focus on FS X rather than the add-on itself! Glad it's working for you as well.

Best wishes,

Michael

Michael,

Couldn't have said it better! I'm glad to hear we have one more successful ProATC user.

I can't wait to try it. Does it work by intercepting FSX ATC? Or does it completely control the show itself, and if so does it control Ai traffic?

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

No. It does none of those things Steve.

It says IFR ATC for airliner flights, so I thought it's got to do something. For example; do we switch off Ai traffic in case FSX ATC is landing them against PROATC approaches? Usually these types of programs intercept FSX ATC, we've all used FSX ATC and changed approaches. You can even change plans mid flight and all sorts of things not realised by many to be FSX ATC but not surfaced in FSX, which is also the Ai traffic system...

I have no idea what your system specs are. I'm talking about FSX settings. This might have caused ProATC to stop responding after FL130 as it could have been looking for additional system resources. As I stated, it worked for me all the way to landing with the co-pilot in control. There has to be a logical reason why I was successful and you weren't and we both were using the same version of ProATC.

My fsx settings are fine with voxatc/radar contact/and pfe:If my computer can handle those programs no prob it should have no difficulties in dealing with proatc.Unless you think this software is more resource hungry than others .

I think the program is in very good shape as you can get ATC from gate departure to landing without any problems

With all due respect I think this is a bold statement. Quite a few/many ? users struggle with this program. So it's not in such a good shape.

I just went through the 18 pages of this thread and noticed that this software works fine for 2 users (Michael and Jim) only. Did any other beta-tester get lucky with the 1029 version?

Bob, Al did you give up ?

Hi Steve,

It is aware of AI traffic, so tells you to wait while aircraft are landing, etc. It does not though 'speak' to the AI traffic, but since FS ATC does this in the background, you do end up with a rounded experience. They key feature is simplicity, so to keep it that way it lacks many of the features in FS ATC (that many people evidently aren't aware of anyway!), but adds some other features with the focus on overall ambience for an uneventful flight from A to B (i.e. like most airline flights in real life!).

Best wishes,

Michael

I was also thinking about VOXATC 6 might be good. There's a review by Jess at FSN http://www.flightsim...oxatc-6-review/. I'm just interested in how they work - lol.

Votax 6 is fantastic, I have been using it for a month now but its expensive and the default voices are truly woeful so I had to buy the add on vioce pack at $50 per voice and they are crystal clear and natural like the real thing. So the final price (votax and 1 controller voice add on) is about $130 but worth every penny

voice is here free trial and demo http://www.ivona.com/en/mini-reader/
