A quick fly by of Pro ATC

How do you actually update UTX? I see an option which says 'prepare it for patching' on the menus, but then what do you do after picking that?

Al

Then install the patch. Once installed, then start up the UTX configuration and it will reactivate UTX.

Best regards,

Jim

Al,

go to www.scenerysolutions.com

On your left you see "Feb 27 , 2010 UTX Europe V1.4 patch released read more..".

Click on "read more".

In front of you you'll see this :

" Feb 27 , 2010 Ultimate Terrain X Europe V1.4 Patch

Today we released a large patch for UTX Europe. This patch will bring any user with Version 1.1c or higher installed to Version 1.4. See the Downloads section to get the patch now."

Go to the downloads section.

You then go to "UTX Europe for FSX" and click on the second link.(where it says ""Then, follow the patch instructions listed here"." Click on "here". You will download a file with all the info you need.

Cheers for the link, I never knew where to get patches from for it, Flight 1 don't list anything about it on their product page.

God what a pain in the &@($*, I can't reinstall UT Europe because I've apparently had too many activations (which seems odd to start off with), and I can't patch the present 1.0 version I have installed because the patch only works on later ones, and Flight 1's automatic system doesn't recognise my password for it when I try to reactivate using their automated system, so I've had to submit a ticket. All this just to see if it sorts out the crashes on Pro ATC.

This thread title is becoming increasingly ironic, because it's the longest 'quick fly by' in history.

the whole FS thing's ironic, it's amazing how well it all works, yet there's millions of problem-ettes...

This is a huge thread... what's so exciting about this product? Can somebody summarize it for me?

To summarise: It's a huge thread because many people are finding that the software doesn't work properly for them. When it does work, it is good, but I've yet to have a complete flight work flawlessly.

To be fair, I think that there are a lot of issues with various add-ons not liking it, and the developer has been quite dilligent in at least trying to sort things out, with many patches over the past three weeks, but really, that just shows that it wasn't ready for a payware release without a wider-ranging beta test, since having add-ons for FSX is hardly an unusual thing, especially for anyone who is prepared to stump up forty quid for an improved ATC package..

Updating UTX europe to the latest version solved the problem ! NO more crashes (famous last words ?).-

Yep. Famous last words. Another crash.FSX froze and I had to kill the sim via task manager.

I was doing this flight:

LPPT 35 DME D059T ALAMA NSA UN745 ZMR NEA BGS UL176 CNA POI SOMED DISAK RESMI TSU UN874 CMB TULNI EBBR

By the time I got to NEA my flight was over. :-(

Could have been worse, by the time I got to Woodstock, they were half a million strong, so I had to stand at the back and couldn't hear anything :LMAO:

I think it needs to cost less for a start. Then it needs to be around half price as a pre-release build.

Yup, I agree. As it stands, buyers are effectively beta testing a product which does not work as advertised, and for that, they should be paying less than the price it is currently pitched at.

If it worked as it is supposed to, I'd be quite an advocate of it in spite of the price, because it does have a lot of good features, but at the moment, it's like an unreliable car, i.e. it's even more of a pain in the &@($* than having no car at all, because all it can do for the most part, is waste your time and lead to frustration. One accepts that sort of thing when beta testing of course, since that is the deal, but it isn't the deal people signed up for when they handed over their cash for what was supposed to be a finished product.

hehe, me too, if the button on the dash does not work, and I have to put the key in the boot/trunk lock, i can get by til the next service. But if i'm not getting to my destination...

Another point about having lots of features, does not mean it's worth more, since not everyone wants all the features. The price needs to sit comfortably as a subset of its features.

and the developer has been quite dilligent in at least trying to sort things out,

'Credit were credit is due.The dev has also been very diligent in claiming that customers" systems are at fault, that his software works fine and there are only a few people with problems.
