June 20, 201213 yr Two screenies from IL2 Cliffs of Dover, with me playing a filthy ######, having just shot down a Hawker Hurricane in my Messerschmitt bf 110 Zerstörer, one of three aircraft I destroyed on that mission; two Hurricanes and a Spitfire, one being strafed as he landed (see? told you I was being an evil ######). If you are wondering about the thread title incidentally, Horrido! was a common victory cry among Luftwaffe pilots, derived from Saint Horridus, the patron saint of hunters, later adopted as the patron saint of fighter pilots. June 20, 201213 yr As an long lasting IL-2 1946 player, I need getting that. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
June 20, 201213 yr Author Yup, it does look great, and (now) it is a good combat sim too, wheras it was bloody awful upon release. Just make sure that if you do get it, you have a fairly decent computer, because like FSX, since it was developed at about the same time, it uses primarily the CPU rather than the GPU, although they have patched the crap out of it to make it use multiple cores. Offline single player combat AI is excellent in it, probably amongst the best out there, with very convincing enemy and friendly AI. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Well, Al, I think my PC is decent enough for that! Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
June 20, 201213 yr Author Yup, looking at your specs, I should say that it is. Very similar to mine in most respects. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

June 21, 201213 yr Great pix! I have IL2 Cliffs of Dover but my computer has a habit of restarting when I play it:( Think I need a new power supply or a better graphics card. The graphics in it are pretty damn wonderful. Especially dog-fighting over the Channel! Tally Ho! Jerry's at Angels 15!!
June 21, 201213 yr Author Yup, my main FSX PC used to do that too, it was the PSU. I had a 550 Watt PSU in there, which would not power my ATI HD 6950, so I had an ATI 4800 in there, and when I cranked up very fancy games that were quite demanding on either the CPU, things got hot and the BIOS would go 'oops, time to shut down your system to prevent your components from frying'. Programs which did that were Skyrim, Cliffs of Dover, the character creation screen on GW2 (although not the game bizarrely), and one or two others that I can't recall at the moment. The solution was to bang in a better PSU, in my case an 850 watt PSU, which meant I could also stick that HD 6950 in there. Now Cliffs of Dover runs just fine on that PC and I can finally play it on the computer that I use for FSX without missions ending after three minutes with a total shutdown. It almost certainly will be the PSU shutting your computer down rather than the GPU. Like FSX, Cliffs of Dover is more dependent on the CPU than the GPU.
