June 21, 201213 yr Having been a lurker for many moons here on AVSIM forums this is my first post. Started out flight sims on the Commodore 64, eventually moved through all of them, still have many of them sitting here on the shelves of the office. Currently have FS9, FSX, Flight, A-10, and all the 1st Gen Third Wire sims installed (albeit not used) Overall, love flight for what (at least I) consider it to be, a great easy way to log some sim time, with few complications and the ability to enjoy some excellent scenery. I have purchased all the DLC so far, cockpits or not. Am wondering if anyone has info on the pending release of Alaska, given that spring has now officially "sprung" and we're into summer. The last I heard, Alaska was to be released "Spring of 2012" Anyone know of an expected release date? Hope everyone enjoys their sim(s) of choice and ignore the ones that aren't their cup of tea. Jim
June 21, 201213 yr I think MS is trying to milk this for all it's worth. Hoping people will get bored and buy those terrible warbirds while they wait for Alaska. They just posted more Corsair shots on the website.
June 21, 201213 yr No official word yet, but they always release new DLC on the last Wednesday of the month. Smart money bets on Alaska for June 27th.
June 21, 201213 yr Hi Kohanjj, Like you I have run the flight sim gambit starting with the Apple II. I now have almost 100 hrs in MS flight, way more then all the others combined. That must mean something. Welcome the the forum.
June 21, 201213 yr I started with FS2 back in the mid 80's. Had all of the MS sims since then, but got sick of troubleshooting problems rather than flying. Tried Flight, a couple of weeks ago, and love it. It flies and looks great, and no problems. Can't wait till Alaska comes out.
June 21, 201213 yr Never flew so many hours in a sim either, specially on missions, the closest being ATP and latter AS2... Regarding the Corsair, it gives me a nice feel of the true capabilities of MS FLIGHT's FD model. You'll be nicely surprised to find out, reading a few technical notes about the aircraft, that the f4-u in MS FLIGHT replicates those unfamous characteristics very well, and at the same time irons aspects that would be difficult to overcome using a cockpitless aircraft model. Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

June 21, 201213 yr How is flying it without a cockpit? Cockpit would be better, but.... I use the HUD for heading and speed. There's no canopy bow or panel glare shield to match with the horizon, so I press the space bar to get the "gunsight reticle" used for mouse mode. (Still use a Saitek X52 for control.) That makes it work for me.
