May 22, 200422 yr <<<>>>Default is better in FS2004 than ever before in my humble view. I have more than 500 carefully chosen add-on aircraft in FS2004, but fly six hours multiplayer a week on the default DC-3. Modified a little, yes, but it's glorious. And a twin!Careful you don't fall into the "I'll never fly default! I'll never fly without a VC! I'll never fly freeware when payware is always better!" camp. Some of the best aircraft out there are freeware. And, if flown properly, one or two of the FS2004 default 'planes and panels are very good indeed.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM

May 23, 200422 yr Forgot to add the PMDG Beechcraft 1900.Not a big learning curve to fly,but a great visual aircraft inside and out.Its just a great plane to have some fun with.Happy LandingsKLBE
May 23, 200422 yr >Forgot to add the PMDG Beechcraft 1900.Not a big learning>curve to fly,but a great visual aircraft inside and out. Its>just a great plane to >have some fun with.>I have heard that this plane is not so realistic in implementationand uses default panels. Also how good is the documentation for this plane?
May 23, 200422 yr The manual is only 14 pages not a big deal but it gives the specs and some simple lessons.Just fun to fly and get from point a to b in a hurry.
May 23, 200422 yr You mean it uses default gauges not panels. It was never meant to be a 100% simulated aircraft although it does fly on the numbers. IMO for the $$$ it's a very good deal. But hey there are many great freeware planes in the library to choose from it's all about downloading and testing....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 23, 200422 yr I was following this thread for some time now without posting. I can't believe that noone has brought up the Cessna C310 CM from Dreamfleet. I have em all (421, 441, Bill Lyons little Piper, FSD Cheyenne, FSD Seneca) except the latest FSD stuff as I will never give them a dime again for personal reasons.Believe me: Especially if you like hand flying and a nice model Dreamfleet's CM beats them all by a wide margin. Although everything is a matter of taste of course. The CM has a retrofitted turbo charger, so it can go up to 28000 ft. But if you don't like that it can easily be changed to an aspirated engine without the turbo. You then have a plane that is ver forgiving and at the same time very interesting to fly. It even is capable of bush flying if you have the skills. I do that a lot in the Gorender sceneries.Just my 2 cents,Alex
May 23, 200422 yr Where can I find this Cessna C310 CM?I have considered the FSD Cheyenne. ONe thing about the FDS plane istheir simulation of damage and maintenance. What do you think about the FSD Cheyenne?

May 23, 200422 yr The Cessna can be found under www.dreamfleet2000.com.I never liked the FSD damage simulation. It caused me a lot of problems with engines that could only be revived with a reinstall. I guess that is fixed now. I also did not find it too realistic with engines blowing up after 20 seconds of slamming the throttles. The Cheyenne was a very nice plane at the time it was released for FS2K2, but it is kinda old now and not really up to the high standards of today IMHO. I guess if you want to go with FSD you should take a look at the more recent releases.Alex
May 23, 200422 yr If you don't mind slow, and basic avionics: for me it's the Lyons' Apache. It just has a great, authentic feel to it. On top of that, there are all the add-on's, adventures etc. and it's as cheap as it gets for payware.
May 24, 200422 yr The information you are relaying here is incorrect Alex. While the damage model has been refined, you had the ability to just shut it off completely from day one if you experience problems with it. Then it will operate just like a conventional FS aircraft.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

Then it will operate just like a>conventional FS aircraft.>But don't the convential FS aircrafts do have som damage modelling? How has the damage model been refined?Do I understand things correctly if I assume that you can't removedamage from aircraft from within FS, but have to reinstall the plane? If so that is really stupid. What if you crash?
May 24, 200422 yr I have blown the engines in my cheyenne by forgetting to pull back the condition lever. The plane was repaired using the manager utility that comes with the plane. Kind of fun, and makes you pay much more attention to the engines and their proper management - very realistic in my opinion. The plane does not have to be reinstalled after such an occurance - that is totally inaccurate.Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
