Carbon Cub...How is it?

The information is in this...

You want to enable the Screenshot View and use it as a cockpit view just for the Cub. I'm out of town, or I would find the actual InitialXyz values needed in the config file for you.

Maybe somebody else can post them.

I didn't found any exact coordonates, so my values are ok with the Carbon Cub and the Zero. With the P51, it will put you just a bit behind the cockpit.

These are my settings for the "faux cockpit camera"

[CameraDefinition.013]

Title = $Screenshot View

Guid = {D225B9D0-95CB-4278-9A9D-ED4545743269}

Description = My personnal camera setting for those cockpitless warbirds.

Origin = Cockpit

MomentumEffect = Yes

SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel

SnapPbhReturn = False

PanPbhAdjust = Swivel

PanPbhReturn = False

Track = None

ShowAxis = Yes

AllowZoom = TRUE

InitialZoom = 0.8

InitialXyz= 0, 0.1, -0.2

SmoothZoomTime = 2.0

ZoomPanScalar = 1.0

ShowWeather = Yes

XyzAdjust = TRUE

ShowLensFlare=TRUE

Category = Cockpit

PitchPanRate=20

HeadingPanRate=45

PanAcceleratorTime= 3.0

ClipMode = Spot

UseSimVelocity = TRUE

CycleHidden=No

XYZRate=0.75

It works flawlessly with TrackIR and the "center view" key", and it won't interfere with your actual cockpit view :)

Thanks for posting! I narrowed it down to just the Screenshot View values people will need to tweak setting this up. With InitialXyz, it can be a little tedious making a change, then loading Flight to test it, but it certainly helps to have a starting point. I believe you can also keep adding numbers to the right of the decimal to achieve greater precision in the camera location.

InitialZoom is best set to our own preference, but I found going closer to the natural 1.0 works much better with TrackIR than without it.

^^ Believe me, it's not really worth it :D

For camera.cfg config, I used this site as a reference (posted elsewhere). The unit values are in meters.

For the zoom value, it is up to your screen size & config (& eyes !)

And please note that changing the camera def. from "Spot" to "Cockpit" helped :)

Well I now have it working with Track IR and it looks great. I did have to change one setting in the suggested settings for InitialXyz to InitialXyz 0, 0,4 , -0.2 from the suggested InitialXyz=0,0,1,-0.2 . The intial setting for the Y axis of 0.1 had me sitting way below the top of the panel, so I couldn't see over the top. Changing it from 0.1 to 0.4 made it perfect. When I adjusted it, I had to exit Flight and start again to see the effect.

This is how it looks with Track IR on and running.

Good suggestion... I don't use the fake cockpit myself, so I have not tested that.

I was just messing around with the default views one day and it occurred to me that this might be useful to those who did use the cockpitless planes.

Now that I got the Track Ir working , I decided to fly the Blue Cub today out to Hope airstrip from Anchorage. Much better with Track IR, in fact, I started practicing some maneuvers like turns around a point, over Hope, and slow flight. Track IR makes all the difference. Finally landed to get some fresh air. . Luckily I missed the rocks.
