New AVSIM front page

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have tried to get used to the new AVSIM front page, but to be honest I can't.

In my opinion it is too crowded (correct word?) with articles, banners, etc etc.

I do not mean this disrespectful but to me is it a gray and blue 'alphabet soup'.

All the different items have more or less the same lay-out and properties,

making it not very tempting/easy to read.

As I said I'm not trying to be disrespectful but I just wanted to ventilate my opinion.

Hi,

I'm not an graphical designer so I can't give you proper advice.

But maybe only 1 news column instead of 2 will improve things a lot.

(or remove the most left column)

Currently it is an overflow of chuncks of information, all looking more or less the same.

Also provide less info in each news item block, makes it much more inviting to read.

Currently it contain a lot of (extra) info, that distracts from the main content. (i.e. tags, comments, rating etc)

But then again, it is also personal preference so if you ask for 100 opinions, you get 100 different answers ^_^

I was going to post something similar.

I have had the AVSIM front page as my home page for years. Why? I want to see all of the new uploads to the library and any big news. Now I have to click the link to see the new uploads and to be honest, I rarely check them anymore. I'd set new uploads page as my home page but the url changes every day. It would be nice if uploads were given a much larger space on the front page so I can see all (or most) of them.

Hello

Same here, Avsims front page was my first stop everyday.

I find the new page to be visually confusing, I tend to jump straight to the forums now.

Guys, when we were putting the new site together, as much as we would have loved to do as we did in the old layout, it wasn't possible for reasons of form and function, not to mention ascetics. Why not just link to?

http://library.avsim...&Go=Change View

Which is the new file listings which would normally be a one click use of the Library Menu tab at the top of both the main page and the forums; in fact, at the top of nearly every AVSIM page now.

Create a favorite's link to that and then post it to your desk top, then you just click on the icon on your desktop and away you go.

We have tried to put in as much functionality in the design and make it as easy to use as possible, but you got to put in a little effort too guys.
