Has anyone seen this before?

Recommended Posts

With all the service pack applied, when I lower the throttle setting, I started hearing a buzzer sound and the "Gear Up" light illuminated. My airspeed is no where near stall speed. I searched in the Carenado manuals and has seen no explanation of this behaviour. Not flying the real plane does not help either. Ideas? Bugs?

Thanks

More of a feature. That's the gear warning when below a certain MP. Don't forget to extend it before landing. The procedure to do it afterwards was often tried but never succeeded. He%20He.gif

I can't vouch for the actual MP value for the warning to come up (because I don't know it), but I guess the presence of the feature itself is realistic.

It is stated in the real world POH that if the throttle is retarded below approx 12 in. manifild pressure, a warning horn will sound. This is to help prevent gear up landings.

Oh, thanks. The manuals that came with Carenado is bare. Where can I get one of those real world POH? ;)

You could probably go to Sportys pilot shop, they might have a POH on the F33A

This can be set by your mechanic but around 12" is typical. Can be a problem because often the gear warning can be confused for stall warning.

Best place to get a poh is eBay-have gotten several there for cheapest price-I like to have several for any plane I fly.

Nice to see another reality simulated in the sim!

If you open the aircraft.cfg file there is a section titled [gear_warning_system] which allows you to edit the alarm. Searched around on Google and found this on MSDN, so now I know how to shut the alarm up!

gear_warning_available

Sets the type of gear warning system available on the aircraft, one of:

0 = None, 1 = Normal, 2 = Amphibian (audible alert for water vs. land setting).

pct_throttle_limit

The throttle limit, below which the gear warning will activate if the gear is not down and locked while the flaps are deflected to at least the setting for flap_limit_idle below. This flap limit can be 0 so that the warning effectively is a function of the throttle. A value between: 0 (idle) and 1.0 (Max throttle).

flap_limit_idle

In conjunction with the throttle limit specified above, this limit is the flap deflection, above which the warning will activate if the gear is not down and locked while the throttle is below the limit specified above. By setting this limit to a value greater than zero, the pilot can reduce the throttle to idle without activating the warning. This is often utilized in jets to decelerate/descend the aircraft.

flap_limit_power

The flap limit, above which the warning will activate (regardless of throttle position).
