Congrats! I noticed your times are much lower as well, ate you running HT or could this just be due to your faster RAM? I ordered some G.Skill 2800 to get the most out of the machine.

Good job Westman. Now I am thinking I should crack open my IB processor too.

Dont really now i have run IBT not so much, but probbaly yes.

Teststed the memcontroller and mems only 2T to see max speed i can get.

i manged 2953mhz 2T and 2850 1T the mems and memcontroller seems ok.

Kind regards Hasse

Seriously impressive mem speed there. I just hope to hit rated speed on mine, really don't want to mess with Bclk and start having to find a stable OC all over again...

BTW, I confirmed that mem speed is the difference in IBT run times as seen in numerous IBT runs posted across the net. Hope to get some sub 100 second runs soon :D

The dilemma for me is 2600 cl9 1T or 2800 cl11 1T with decent voltages 1.7v or less 24/7 is ok for me , think a go for 2600

its little faster and memcontroller dont like avg + 85-90C

What VTT and VCCsa do you have to run for those mem speeds?

Try to get as low as possible it build heat to like the PLL.

VTT= 1.18 with blck over 104 but with 100 1.15 depending on ram voltage

Not want over 0.6v to the ram voltage and à run 1.68v on rams.

VCCsa is it the IMC voltage on the GA Boards? à have it 0.01-0.005v lower than VTT

Thanks! That's in line with what I've seen elsewhere, just wanted to see if you were doing anything different. VCCsa = IMC, yes. On my board I don't have fine-grained control over this value, it makes fairly large jumps so not sure of I'll be able to configure properly without changing to a different board like the MVF :(

I am building a new system to replace my first generation i7 860. I currently overclock to 3.6 but can only get frame rates around 33 with the 737NGX with my sliders in FSX set to 50%. I just purchased an Asus P8Z77-V Mobo and i72700K Sandy Bridge at Microcenter. I was initially going to buy a Z68 motherboard but all the Asus boards I was interested in had already been removed from inventory and I didn't want to take a chance on Asrock which is why I got the Z77 with a Sandy Bridge CPU. For $10 more I could have purchased an i7 3770K but overclocking and heat was my concern which is why I stayed away from Ivy Bridge. I still have a few components to buy but should have everything ready to build in another month or two.

Just curious if there are any Ivy Bridge overclockers in this forum and what kind of temps you are seeing with a mild overclock. I have never and don't plan on running a multiple GPU configuration. Any compelling reasons for me to return my 2700K and pick up a 3770K?

What monitor resolution are you running at? You will also need a new video card too for the added CPU power otherwise you will see worse performance (see Word Not Allowed's post). For system that will last at least 2 years, go with a GTX 680 and IB3770K. I would not personally push the IB more than 4.5 Ghz anyway, for longevity sake. I recently went with a SB2700K and GTX580 because I got a really good deal.

I am running at 1920 x 1080 resolution with 2xAA and 16xAF forced by the Catalyst Control Center but frame rates aren't much higher with these turned off. I have to say I was happier with the Nvidia drivers and regret going ATI/AMD

At that resolution, you could stay with SB system and save some money. However be sure to get the GTX580 or GTX570. Before I upgraded my monitor, I used a GTX570 for 1920x1200 and the SIM is smooth. Good luck.

Memory testing results: can't get 2800 on mine, POST code 23 (IMC). 2.67GHz works, but with loose timings. Bumped down to 2.6GHz and running pretty tight timings right now @ 10-12-12-32-1T. Going to see what sub-timings I can tighten for even better performance. Disappointed with clock speed results slightly, but these timings are great and the performance is definitely there.

Think its the memcontroller if you can run 2600 cl 10

And must loose to get 2666 to work , i run 9 12 11 27 1T @2666 MHz

Get 2 sets G -Skill tomorow test if they ar better then the Xtrem Lv

It can be bios or MoBo to , i was stuck 2666 but after testing 6 diff beta bios i get it to work

Keep up the good work Max

Kind Regards / Hasse
