July 27, 201213 yr Yes, that's a great plane. I bought it december last year. I will be adding the RealAir Legacy to my hangar tomorrow. I'm pretty close to digging out my copy of FSX and reinstalling it. I never bought much in the way of payware, but maybe that's part of why FSX never satisfied me when I tried it. After having seen in Flight that it is possible to create a plausible flight model for a PC sim where the aircraft behave the way I remember actual planes behaving, I'm willing to invest some money in that area. So, I'm trying to identify that best light GA planes for FSX, which might offer something approaching the "in the seat" sensation of Flight. The RealAir Legacy and the Baytower RV-7 both keep coming up everywhere I look. I'm very interested in your thoughts on both, once you've compared them. I think that kind of discussion can still be relevant here in the Flight Forum, as I'm looking for something as close to the Flight experience as I can get.
July 27, 201213 yr Imma miss the fluidity of flight. Any other flight sims seem to be a static plane in a dynamic world. Which sucks and makes when flying, look completely fake! Flight actually felt very good for me and the fluidity man. the fluidity!!!
July 27, 201213 yr Author So, I'm trying to identify that best light GA planes for FSX, I'd also recommend stuff from FSD-International, and of course, don't forget our friend Kevin Miller (aka MVGibbage) site: http://www.kcflightshop.com/ Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
July 27, 201213 yr I'd be interested to hear of your experiences, too Don..I spent a lot of the late 80's playing F-16 Combat Pilot, which had a persistent battlefield concept going on the Atari ST (and Amiga) way back then..They tried again with Falcon 4,0 and sort of achieved the "living world" thing, and I'd really rather not have to kill stuff to get it, but it really looks interesting..Keep us updated, please Will do. I have to say DCS World, running A-10C, and Black Shark 2 all within the same environment, is looking pretty darn good. I have started some of the training in A-10C, and wow. The detail is amazing. I am sure I will grap P-51 for it when it is out of beta, and Combined Arms is looking pretty enticing as well. Those guys do seem to have it together. My biggest problem right now is having the time to spend going through the training/learning curve - when fall/winter gets here, I will have much more time available for simming. That is one reason I liked Flight so much, so easy to launch a quick flight, have a few minutes of fun, then off to something else. Don B
July 27, 201213 yr That is one reason I liked Flight so much, so easy to launch a quick flight, have a few minutes of fun, then off to something else. Same..I've spent more time trying to get my Reality XP gauges working in my new VANS RV7 in FSX than I could have spent flying from Denali to Anchorage LOL.. DCS is tempting me..I loved the manual in Falcon 4.0..still got a copy (and the game) I love manuals :Nerd: JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
July 27, 201213 yr DCS is tempting me..I loved the manual in Falcon 4.0..still got a copy (and the game) I love manuals Back when the original Black Shark came out - the first in their lineup - they made available their huge manual for it, for sale in hard copy format. I ordered that thing, and have spent a lot of time reading it off and on. Great bathroom reading material. If you liked the complexity of Falcon 4, DCS would be right up your alley. Don B
July 27, 201213 yr Author ame..I've spent more time trying to get my Reality XP gauges working in my new VANS RV7 in FSX An advantage of Xplane10, at least - they integrate smoothly as pluggins and you don't have to edit any panel.cfg stuff :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
July 28, 201213 yr I got up this morning, booted up the computer and checked the latest posts here, then took a look at my Flight icon and started to hover the cursor over it, and just could not bring myself to do the ole double click... not just yet, but then I took a look at the weather and it is going to be really nice and hot today, so wife and I are preparing to head to the lake - easy decision lol. Gotta get this stuff off my mind for the day. Don B
