DBS Airport GPS

Featured Replies

This week I have just purchased the above and completed the activation process OK.

When I first tried it out I was using the Perfect Flight British Airways 737-800 and it wortked perfectly-it is an excellent airport guidance system.

However, I then went to fly in Wilco 777 clicked the DBS in my addon menu selected route and the received the message'Airport GPS Installation to panel failed'.

I checked my panel cfg for my 737 and there is a gauge entry in there for the DBS Airport GPS but not for the 777.I tried to copy the same text into the 777 panel cfg but it still does not work.

I am therefore wondering if someone who possibly uses this software could help me please.

I have sent an E Mail to DBS Studio but to date have not received a reply.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Problem now solved.

Hello

I don't know if you remember but I took some time out to post some stuff that helped you out with various issues you were having with PFE.

I took that time because I had watched you struggling for answers not just here but around the forums.

We have all been there at some point.

But reading around the forums, what I do notice is, when you do happily resolve a problem by yourself the response is always "Problem now solved."

Now consider if you will, that there may be another simmer just starting on his journey into this hobby, pulling his hair out over the very same issues.

Imagine his frustration at having searched for his issue around the forums and found a post describing exactly the issue he is facing, he is met with "Problem now solved."

What I mean by posting that, and I am not being judgemental is that:

We are all teachers here, no matter how little we think we know about the hobby, we all know more than the guy booting up his sim for the first time, if he gets issues he will probably use the search function.

And the search function is the paper trail that those of us that have gone before have laid down.

Mad dog i really appreciate what you wrote because it describes exactly what happens with simmers who face problems with their add ons....and i have to admit that many of my add ons problems where solved by reading historical problems and the way it was solved on AVSIM forums ....this website have really valuable information...By the way this is the second time you reply to my post...im impressed with your quick responses....

I have solved my issue after breaking my head little bit....my issue was the following after installing DBS GPS airport which comes with 2 files:

1- DBS AptGPS

2- dbs.aptgps.x. 1.6.0

i have came across an update of the GPS version 1.9 which i installed.

Apparently after installing that i could not add any new GPS install to my different airplanes panel.

I tried to uninstall and install again the version 1.6 but it was failing to install so i went to the root of DBS folders under FSX--> DBS and there was one folder called dbs.aptGPS (type configuration settings) which was not cleaned with the uninstall so i removed it and then installed again version 1.6 and suddenly i realize that i can now open all GPS in all planes....

That was my issue which might be different from stratfordman....

Thanks AVSIM for the insipiration....

Regards

Hi Mad Dog,

Thanks for your reply and yes you are are totally right and I apologise.

I resolved my issue in respect of DBS Airport in a very simple way.

I went back into the panel cfg file and noticed that in the text I had put the letters GSP rather than GPS which obviously made all the difference.

It is so important to get the text spot on in the cfg files.

Anyway, thanks for your help and DBS is a great little addon.

Hi guys,

I have your same issue but despite I read your posts I didn't understand how to fix it.

Would you be so kind please to enlighten me up with a short step by step procedure ?

Thanks a lot in advance

Solution found.

Within the file dbs.aptGPS ( program files\microsoft games\FSX\DBS folder ) I changed the value from 1 to 0 ( notepad) to the line " ManualInstallToPanel ".

thx

Has anyone used this (DBS airport gps -FSX along with  ezdok? I can't get both programs to load into fsx at the same time. It seems there is a conflict with

these 2 programs. I uninstalled DBS airport gps and now ezdok loads just fine.  I contacted DBS support but he never heard of anyone having issues  with ezdok and DBS. I see that the last post was 2 yrs ago. Not sure if there is another forum for this issue. How can I get BOTH of these programs to load in fsx?

Ref: DBS STUDIO AIRPORT GPS FOR FSX STEAM

hi there,

just bought the above software but cannot install it to save my life, halfway through the installation the software crashes,

i am running windows 10 with high spec pc including GTX 960m graphic card, with 16gb mem, also i have installed EZdok and GSX and Miscrosoft Visual C++ 2010 as instructed by DBS.

tried to run the software compatible with all windows versions with no success.

any help is much appreciated.

thank you

Most software needs administrative rights to install.  So, you need to right click the installer and select Run as Administrator.  You should also make sure User Access Controls (UAC) are disabled and make sure any anti-virus program is temporarily disabled.
