Two days with FSX Golden...

Featured Replies

This is really unconfortable to me, but I can't avoid feeling it, and sharing it here, just as I tend to do with all of my simmer feelings :-)

I have FSX Golden maxed, RealAir SF260, Lancair, Aerosoft Twin Otter, KatanaX, DiscusX.

Lisbon looks gorgeous (it is Gorgeous!), I have boats and cars on roads, Light Bloom and many other effects I was never able to enable on my old machine, and still getting between 24 and 30 fps allover :-). Short flights between Montijo Airbase (next to where I live) and LPPT just as I do in ELITE, give me a very realistic view of the town, the Tagus river, etc... There is a catch - none of the prop models in FSX come even close to the level of detail / accuracy in ELITE, and turbulence is so poorly modelled in FSX (I had forgoten about it...) , but the looks are great... the looks... only the looks(?)

Then, explain why I keep starting FLIGHT and flying the Maule and the Cub (with cockpit), mostly in Hawaii - not that I do not like Alaska, but somehow I do prefer Hawaii...

There is indeed something different, call it magic!, about MS FLIGHT - I can't avoid feeling this!

I have missed the last three days aerocaches, but I am about to start hunting again...

The more I start FSX, the more I need to be in FLIGHT...

Make sure you register CumulusX for some additional benefits. For example, the wing will lift nearer the center of the thermal, making centering a lot easier.

Thx Hook, I have CumuluX! :-) I didn't yet install it, although the XWinch component got installed with DiscusX. It's a nice add-on for sure... together with the DiscusX! is great, but even both + FSX Golden can't even compare to Condorsoaring or Silent Wings :-)...

Is only MS FLIGHT didn't stop and we could have thermals and gliders there... :-(

If you find a sim that is more realistic than flight in the feeling of flying, let us know.

As a pilot myself I find Flight's flight dynamics the most satisfying... By contrast I can still use FS9 without issue although the sim's FDE overall characteristic is not quite on the level of Flight, it's more than acceptable. There must be something amiss about FSX as I keep hearing this. Are you having subtle framerate issues? That's a killer for any sim especially after using something as fluid as Flight.

I wonder if this forum will ever return to discussing Flight instead of a comparative debate on Flight vs the other guys...?
