August 29, 201213 yr Where on the mobo does the ssd get plugged in? - im assuming into one of my sata ports the same as where my hdd and dvdrw goes? which also tells me its sata. On my ASUS P68Z Deluxe Motherboard I have a couple of 6GB Sata ports and several 3GB ports. If your SSD is rated for 6GB transfer speed, you can plug it into the 6GB port. I have my Crucial plugged into the 6GB port, my secondary mechanical HDD in one of the 3GB ports and my DVD player into one of the 3GB ports. So it's important to look at the specifications of the SSD and make sure it is compatible with 6GB Sata ports. Here's a link to SATA - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA. As you can see a SATA Revision 3 (SATA 6 Gbits) is the fastest for now. I agree it is all very complicated but 100% of the computers made today have SATA ports and compatibility. Most modern computers have the SSD/SATA cables and power supply available. When buying an SSD, the 3.5 form-factor is normal for desktop computers; the 2.5 and smaller are for laptops. For more technical info on SSD's, check this link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive. To be honest I do not have the technical expertise to advise on SSD's except that I would get at least a SATA 3 with capabilility to plug into a 6GB SATA port. Here's a link to support my suggestion - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/279226-32-what-fastest-sata. In regards to Google, you have to ask it the right questions to get the right answers. Of course you will have to do a little reading but this is actually what many computer "experts" use to help someone having a computer problem. Best regards, Jim
August 29, 201213 yr Author Thanks jim, Thats cleared things up a little, heres hoping a new drive, o/s and a brand new install of fs will produce some postitive results. Jim you have been a star and a gent and i thank you very much for your time and your patience, and im sorry if all these questions have kept you out the skies!!. Kindest regards Paul. Paul Westcott
August 29, 201213 yr Thanks Paul for your kind comments. I enjoyed trying to help you fix your problem. Hope the new drive, OS, and reinstall of FSX goes well. Best regards, Jim
August 31, 201213 yr I'm still getting crashes. Message in event viewer is: Faulting module path C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll Any ideas? Ron Ron Service .
August 31, 201213 yr Faulting module path C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll Your fsx.cfg and/or your display driver settings are set too high. Return your FSX.cfg settings to default and see if the issue still occurs. If it does, then there may be an issue with your memory configuration in the BIOS. I know we have discussed this before but the NTDL.dll is related to memory voltages, timings and/or frequencies. Also, your CPU voltage may be too high or too low. Best regards, Jim

September 10, 201213 yr Author Hi Jim thanks, Ok so it found 1700 errors, is this not a phoney program just to make one buy something? I tried one of these "dll fixers" before, and seen it was a purchase thing, and was reluctant to hand over any details etc etc, im quite strict that way (or tight being a scot" Also, i just found this in my msinfo asusTek_sysctrl Class Installed http://support.asus.com/select/asusTek_sys_ctrl3.cab {4871A87A-BFDD-4106-8153-FFDE2BAC2967} Damaged http://dlm.tools.akamai.com/dlmanager/versions/activex/dlm-activex-2.2.5.7.cab MUWebControl Class Damaged http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/V5Controls/en/x86/client/muweb_site.cab?1340525954296 NVIDIA Smart Scan Installed http://www.nvidia.com/content/DriverDownload/nforce/NvidiaSmartScan.cab Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0 Installed http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-1_6_0_33-windows-i586.cab {BAD4FE2C-503B-45CC-88CD-4B0574057D11} Damaged http://clients.futuremark.com/calico/systeminfodeploy/FMSI_v460.cab {BEA7310D-06C4-4339-A784-DC3804819809} Damaged http://www.tescophoto.com/upload/activex/v3_0_0_7/PhotoCenter_ActiveX_Control.cab Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0 Installed http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-1_6_0_33-windows-i586.cab Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0 Installed http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-1_6_0_33-windows-i586.cab {E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7} Damaged http://platformdl.adobe.com/NOS/getPlusPlus/1.6/gp.cab these were under "ie settings">"ie" >"cache">"list of objects" Does this mean anything? September 10, 201213 yr Hi Paul! Okay. Sorry about that commercial fix. I'll remove that link in my previous post so no one else uses it. NViewer belongs to Nvidia and is normally installed when you install your display drivers. It looks like to me from your error report that you have the NViewer that came with display driver 136.18. That driver is ancient. You should download the latest driver for your video card from Nvidia.com. Use Nvidia Smart Scan to look for the best display driver for your system - http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx. It will scan your system and tell you if you have the latest version or not. Once you do that, uninstall the old display driver by going into your Add/Remove Programs, looking down the list and selecting any with Nvidia in the name. Don't worry, Windows 7 has display drivers they install until you can install the official drivers. Then you should run a freeware registry cleaner. One of the best is CCleaner - http://www.piriform.com/. Once that is complete, install your new display drivers. If you do have Nvidia display drivers later than 136.18, then look for a NView entry in the Add/Remove programs. If found, uninstall it. Then run ccleaner again to get all entries out of the registry too. Another way to find and get rid of NView is to open Windows Explorer, then click on the C: Drive. In the upper right corner there is a search box. Type nview in this box and it should automatically start searching your system. It should find all nview entries on your computer. You can delete them if you want. Nview is no longer needed with the latest drivers. If you do this, make sure you run CCleaner again. Java is an addon for your Internet browser. It's needed by some websites to show things on the site. Java is a common addon and definitely a good addon (you might want to check Java as I believe the latest version is 1.7). It says you have Nvidia Smart Scan installed but the link I provided above is the best as it immediately begins scanning your system and looking for the best drivers. I really can't advise on any of the other items. I would not download and install any of those .cab files. One belongs to ActiveX controls which are sometimes dangerous and not needed for the efficient operation of your computer. It looks like that software that scanned your system might have put those links there so you would download and install some type of commercial advertisement. AsusTex belongs to your Motherboard. It's okay and it says it is installed properly. Let me know if you have any further questions. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! That driver is ancient. You should download the latest driver for your video card from Nvidia.com. Hi Jim, i was using the latest driver until i decided to roll back to 296.10(from 301.42) Use Nvidia Smart Scan to look for the best display driver for your system - http://www.nvidia.co...nload/Scan.aspx. It will scan your system and tell you if you have the latest version or not. Once you do that, uninstall the old display driver by going into your Add/Remove Programs, looking down the list and selecting any with Nvidia in the name.i've even tried uninstalling them and reinstalling them normally and then again in safe mode!! Don't worry, Windows 7 has display drivers they install until you can install the official drivers. Then you should run a freeware registry cleaner. One of the best is CCleaner - http://www.piriform.com/. Ive used ccleaner reliiously, i always run cleaner then check for registries left over. Once that is complete, install your new display drivers. If you do have Nvidia display drivers later than 136.18, I think the 136.18 has to do with physx maybe? then look for a NView entry in the Add/Remove programs. ive removed it via add/remove and ive also removed nview4 as i appeared to be getting n4.ddll errors (i thinkit was) If found, uninstall it. Then run ccleaner again to get all entries out of the registry too. Another way to find and get rid of NView is to open Windows Explorer, then click on the C: Drive. All i see in add/remove for java is " java™ 6 update 33" It says you have Nvidia Smart Scan installed but the link I provided above is the best as it immediately begins scanning your system and looking for the best drivers. Thats strange because i uninstalled it a while back so i dont get auto updates etc etc(force of habit so i didn't get auto updates when flying online for example as some updates wanted a restart and give you a pop up every minute or so until i do restart) I really can't advise on any of the other items. I would not download and install any of those .cab files. One belongs to ActiveX controls which are sometimes dangerous and not needed for the efficient operation of your computer. It looks like that software that scanned your system might have put those links there so you would download and install some type of commercial advertisement. The only thing i have installed now is my "nvidia graphice driver 296.10" which is obviously my main driver AsusTex belongs to your Motherboard. It's okay and it says it is installed properly. Let me know if you have any further questions. Best regards, Jim this has been the only fight ive tried over the last few days, as i've been decorating, but will try one shortly after i've ot the daughter to her bed! (which has been quite good as have not been banging my head on my computer!!) Ive uninstalled java just now so i can get a fresh update of it when the pc sees fit that i need it. but i do remember that being an issue several times before with the same kind of error and "java" being the culprit. Kind regards Paul Paul Westcott
September 11, 201213 yr Author Hi Jim, heres another crash which tells me its the uiautomationcore.dll error, but i thought this doesnt apply to windows xp? I have tried this "fix" before which resulted in me getting black screen crashes!! Hopefully there is a workaround this - ive been trying to et bleeping computer to help because they have a wider knowlede and more tools at their disposal(not fsx but pc related) Regards Paul AppName: fsx.exe AppVer: 10.0.61472.0 AppStamp:475e17d3 ModName: uiautomationcore.dll ModVer: 7.0.2600.6153 ModStamp:4e80c74f fDebug: 0 Offset: 000444e4 Paul Westcott
September 11, 201213 yr I have no idea Paul. The uiautomationcore.dll is in XP. You have the right version. Why your computer continues to crash is beyond my techical expertise. You will need to seek professional technical support from a local computer shop. You have so many errors going on with your system, it looks like it is beyond repair. I would reformat and reinstall XP SP3. Then FSX. It's the only solution left. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 12, 201213 yr Author Hi Jim, Upon checking, i didnt have the ui dll file in my fsx root folder - i noticed that when i went to replace it when i found a link on vatsim (http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=55716) to a newer version I also remember seeing in a couple of places that there was different versions of the ui dll, 6.0.6001.18000 so i've put it in, this time i right clciked it / properties and under the general tab i hit the unblock button. So i will give it a shot today and see what happens. Bleeping computer asked me to run a programme which gave them all my sys info and crashes and they cant see "anything jumping out at me" Strangely (im not seeking help from here for this) ive been asked to put a iso file onto a 1.44mb floppy, which when i try to do it(completely formatted of course) i get an error saying there is not enough space - so i tried a 2.0mb floppy and im getting the same message - this is what im up against!!!! It does look like its going to have to be a complete install, or i just bite that bullet and get my ssd and os just now(i was trying to avoid it at the moment). thanks alot Jim, you've been a star! Paul Paul Westcott
September 12, 201213 yr Thanks Paul! Glad you were able to figure that one out! Not even a computer expert would have thought of that! I really do think you need to update your system and, like you say, bite the bullet. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 12, 201213 yr Author Hi jim, So far ive flown about 200nm in a mooney bravo trying desperately to make it crash all to no avail, but im not countin my chickens yet, when i done my hd check this morning with seagates own error checkin tool - it did come up with one error, which apparently looked quite serious "failed an important diagnostic test, but did give me the opportunity to fix, which i did(although bleeping computer might have something to say when they get back to me with the results of the test i posted to them). Touch wood this may be enough, if not then i will have to go the new o/s and or ssd/ or new ssd and reinstall xp route, i shall wait and see. Cheers jim Paul Paul Westcott
