August 30, 201213 yr Moderator yes, but IF you take the time to put in a support ticket - you will usually get an answer. The developer has a choice to make, not saying this is the case for ActiveSKy but, one can either spend a lot of time answering the same beginner's questions over and over or continue to improve the product and deal with legitimate support via the support ticket. It just seems to me that you are not happy with the support ticket procedure, yet it is a direct link to the developer. And, yes, the developer DOES read the forum. Vic To add to what Vic said, I think another reason for the ticket system is so that they can verify that they are helping users with registered copies rather then pirated copies. Vic The great problem with the way Hi Fi handles support is that the answers to ticket requests are only available to those who submit tickets. With most support forums including those such as PMDG who also have a ticket system you have an archival record of the answers to support queries available to all and very often a quick search of a forum will reveal the answer to your query. These days there is very little useful information the Avsim (Unofficial) HiFi forum because the developer hardly ever makes a contribution. August 31, 201213 yr I don't know how anyone, including HiFi can resolve the issue presented by the OP. Has anyone been able to duplicate the OP? I think in all weather programs, whether AS2012 or REX, you are going to see a certain amount of anomalies in cloud formations. If the issue was occurring all over the world, then I would say we have a serious issue here but that's not the case. If I went in there to try to duplicate it, what weather should I turn on? These days there is very little useful information the Avsim (Unofficial) HiFi forum because the developer hardly ever makes a contribution There are a lot of beta testers who frequent the unofficial forum who might be able to help and many do. What kind of cloud settings are you guys using? I have cloud layers set to 5, I have no idea if I should increase or lower that just looks alone not about this issue. I have CAVOK generation to 50%, no data cloud gen to 50% (hrm, maybe the problem?). Cirrus Cloud Generation set to 50, and for some reason Stratus Cloud Occurrence set to 0%. Bruceb WellI guess we see it differently Bruce. Some users, when they get an answer will share the "howto" with the community. I'd still rather have the developer working to continually improve the product rather than spending time answering questions that can be answered with a little common sense or by other users. There's a reason AS2012 is the best weather engine available - mostly because the "troubles" that the majority of users have can be traced back to user error. If some of the problems brought forth in the forums were rampant, Active Sky would not be in business. When one user out of thousands experiences a problem, yes it is still important but hardly something that must be handled by the developer personally. There are a lot of unofficial support people that frequent the forum and they provide the best kind of support - user to user. I have AS2012 on two different systems, FSX and P3d and I do not have these issues. Maily because I keep my systems clean of other processes. Many of these issues are not related to AS at all but the fact that AS has to wait for some other process to complete before it gets focus, etc. Lastly, thank the many people who pirated AS and then have the nerve to come int the forum and ask for support. Tht was why we initated the "real name" policy and hen ultimately the ticket system. If you are a legit user AND you want support - it is there. If you are too busy to use the official channel - so be it but don't complain tht support is lacking - it certainly is not Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
August 31, 201213 yr Fdovillamil, on 29 August 2012 - 09:45 PM, said: Hi SoloTwo, I'm sorry I can't help you any further with some hints how to solve this issue in AS2012. The only advise I can give you is to keep a close eye on this OpusFSX FS Interface for FSX and P3D. You will find more than sufficient info (especially on this "few metar stations available"-item) here on the avsim forums or on their own forum (SimForums). FYI: I use RexE for their sublime HD Cloud Textures and disable completely the weather engine. I have this function substituted by the Live Weather Engine of OpusFSX. Working just perfect. You should really have a look at this. salu2 Fdovillamil / GCLP Nice advertisement. The simulated winds aloft is a laughable feature Hi SoloTwo, I was so intrigued by the picture you took above the Gulf of Alaska, that I decided to look tor the METAR at that day and approx time in order to reproduce the same situation. I got the Metar data from http://vortex.plymou.../statlog-u.html and took a picture too: BTW: if I could have the exact date/time, coordinates and altitude the picture could be far more simular.
