Well I tried to buy this new aircraft today but am now in the process of buying the Quality Wings Avro RJ.....reason beeing Carenado don`t accept debit cards or paypal. I don`t own a credit card nor want one and neither do any of my imediate family members. Damm I was looking forward to this but I can`t find it available anywhere else apart from Carenado.com.

 

In this day and age surely we can have a few different payment methods. Oh well on with installing the other bird and thats a lost sale from me, question is how many other users have shopped elsewhere due to this?

I have not brought direct from Carenado but on every online flight sim related store it treats my debit card the same as a credit card and i have not had any issues at any online sim store yet using my debit card. If your debit card does not have the Visa logo then you can run in to issues and i would ask your bank for a debit card with the Visa logo on it.

 

Its only a matter of time before other online places get to sell it :)

Hmm thats the thing it does have a visa logo on it but carenado won`t accept it. Oh well I just installed the QW 146 from Flight1 without any problems on the same card so I really think Carenado should look into letting people with Visa debit to be able to use the store. Not everyone in the current ecenomical crises wants a credit card and I for one am one of them.

It could be Carenado's payment handler not excepting your card or it can be your bank blocking them the only way to find out is to contact both and see what they say. Chances are they will blame each other as that is the norm :(

Bingo. With two different financial entities in the mix, it's an act of congress to get anywhere. I had the exact same issue with the C90 King Air. I still don't own it... From this thread alone there's over $120 lost for Carenado.

I`m going to get in touch with them and point them at this thread once I see how many people have had problems.....they might then sort out their payment options.

Just a little update....I logged into Carenado.com this morning and what do you know the 182T is sitting in my account....so even although it said transaction failed twice I still got it......now whats that all about?

 

The money came out my account, will be logging a support ticket with them over this as I allready shopped elsewhere for another add-on.

Sorry you had problems, but I'm guessing the problem's a bit more complicated than that. I've got a bunch of Carenado planes and every single one of 'em's been purchased with a debit (not credit) card.

But there are other stores selling Carenado planes including the C90. e.g. Just Flight, PC Aviator, Aerosoft etc, I have used my card at all of these with no problems.

Carenado's utterly annoying payment 'system' is a great source of irritation for me as well. Just about every other flightsim store uses PayPal, yet Carenado refuses to use it. It's easy, it's efficient - and as a result I've bought hundreds of euros worth of FS add-ons.

 

I don't have nor want a credit card. It's PayPal or no sale for me. I wouldn't mind this so much if Carenado released it to other resellers at the same time.

 

But no, Carenado wants to have their cake and eat it too, it seems. But they definitely lose my sales if I find other addons that I can actually *buy*!

Actually Carenado's CC only system is good for folks like me who tend to make impulse buys :bad:

Yeah Dave I hear you but when they first release an aircrft it is only available from Carenado for the first month or so.

 

It went through anyway even although it said refused....now if I knew that I would not have bought the QW Avro RJ 10 mins later....I would have waited till next month.

 

I`m keeping them both though ha ha

 

I have to admit to loving the 182T. I flew it from Edinburgh EGPH to Neice LFMN yesterday. It`s now onroute to Corfu and then Kos today. Only problem I have had is the pretty anoying clickspots on the Garmin 1000 and the odd time where the PFD has got stuck on initilizastion solved by reloading the aircraft.

 

Glad to know I`m not the only one that doesn`t like there payment methods....thanks for the feedback

Others will probably carry it in a day or so as well.
