August 31, 201213 yr anyone else notice the real world weather download has been giving the same exact metar for about 3 days now? Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
August 31, 201213 yr LOL no... haven't flown in the last few... Maybe Hurricane Isaac has "the system" all flummoxed. (sorry this is just terribly funny to me... if not one thing then another with this nutty FSX :Big Grin:) I just downloaded for KISP and it's showing: Winds 194° at 12G18, Viz 50mi, Light Clouds, Ceiling 1100', Temp 78°F, Dew Point 69°, Altimeter 30.10
August 31, 201213 yr Author apparently other folks have already posted about this on another simming site and it seems the Jepp download that FSX uses is not updating. According to user reports this seems to have been going on for at least a week or more now. NO built in real weather for FSX currently. In KFRG it's been raining in the sim with same baro, temps and cloud layers for 4 or 5 days so far, lol I wonder if MS and Jepp are aware of the issue? Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
August 31, 201213 yr Commercial Member Even if MS was aware about this I doubt they will do anything. After all FSX is old software and probably gets no real support from MS. I recommend anyone who isn't ready to pay for weather program to get FSrealWX. I used it a few times when doing around the world tour with my friend in FSX multiplayer, seemed to work fine.
August 31, 201213 yr I noticed it several days ago. I am going to give it a few more days to begin operating again (which I have my doubts about) and if it doesn't I am going shopping for a weather addon for FSX.

I just use the REX E textures unless I'm flying high in which case the REX weather engine produces better multi-layer clouds IMO.

Hi, And in case you are willing to spend some money I would certainly recommend to have a look to OpusFSX FS Interface for FSX and P3D. You will be astonished! Works great (in my case /PC standalone) with RexE. salu2 Fdoviamil / GCLP Joop H.

Selective Quote Quote MultiQuote actually, I've tried it but noticed it caused some flight issues which I wasn't willing to put up with, such as causing me to bounce on touchdowns for no reason (these were very good touchdowns with almost no wind present at the time), sometimes would cause hot temps at high alts making my plane lose too much power in climbs, would also lose the ability to respond inside the atc menu at times, weird....shut down FSrealWX and use the stock real weather download instead and the issues immediately resolve for me time after time of trying. Id have no interest in using REX or AS2012 due to overly complex interfaces (just want something quick and simple without needing to study and test through 50 pages of explanations on how to "adjust" everything so not to have issues, I mean come on, im not retired yet with nothing else to do all day, lol. ...and from what I thought I understodd about Opus...it doesn't use real wx at all...it's a weather generator which creates it's own weather scenarios, no? I already have that ability when I use "Ideal Flight". I think the MS/Jepp weather servers are working again though.... Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

Hello Hangar, I'm afraid you are mistaken, as OpusFSX Live Weather Engine is based on the METARS as they are given by the Met stations while you flying over. The best I can advise you is to read the dev posts (Stephen), who can explain things better than I obviously. Also on the Opus Software web site is all the info you need. salu2 Fdovillamil / GCLP Joop H.
August 31, 201213 yr As2012 or ASE weather engines aren.t complicated at all. i tried that opus thing. Bout all I got to say about that.

It sounds interesting but without a fully functioning demo it's of no use to me. I know it comes with the F1 wrapper and can be refunded but I feel uncomfortable using that option right now since I recently returned something and wouldn't want to make a nuisance of myself having to do that again right now. Besides, since I already have EZdok and would only use Opus for weather it becomes overpriced IMO. Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
August 31, 201213 yr Hello Dave I understand what you mean. I'm not 100% sure now, but I remember having seen somewhere in the dev posts (but there so many that I cannot remember which one) that they are looking to the possibility to include weather engine as well, or at least for some time, in the demo. So I would say: keep tuned! BTW: I completely switched over to P3D and I also have EZCA -no conflicts- and use REX E (with their weather engine disabled) for the HD clouds textures. Just perfect! Believe me OpusFSX is amazing stuff salu2 Fdovillamil / GCLP Joop H.
