December 6, 201312 yr the two biggest factors hindering me from jumping on-board the "P3D hype-wagon" atm It really isn't all hype. Yes, there are some hype-ridden, low credibility posts but also some people (like Brian D above) who are just trying things out and keeping the community up to speed on their findings. - no hype involved. I do get the sense that some people are almost annoyed that others prefer to stay with FSX for the time being and of course the other way around I agree! ......... but I guess that's human nature. Everyone seems to want everyone else to do things the way they do, and to like the same things. ... and my favorite Reality-XP gauges are not supported.. This was a major thing (alongside PMDG addons) that I've been missing in P3D2 for the last 2 weeks. In fact on re-installing FSX yesterday, the first flight I did was in the Carenado Malibu Mirage with Reality XP. ........ then the NGX. .......there really is nothing like RXP. But as much as I am enjoying my flirtations back in FSX, with the PMDG et al, I'm sure I'll soon be missing those beautiful cockpit shadows and clouds in P3D 2.0.

That last line could've been my original post, sums it up nicely.

Gone back to FSX untill which time: -Vsync Incorporated ( Microstutter) -AA enchantment (Despise shimmering) -Multimonitor Support (Undocking panels causes terrible frame hit) -verified addon support -A GPS that has WAAS support added (developers) -An opening screen that doesnt cause blackouts
December 6, 201312 yr On the topic of hype for P3D: the requirements are relatively steep if you want to experience the expression of directx 11 at its best using P3D. I would only consider it hype for those that are in a position to upgrade their equipment to benefit from the visuals in the short term. But then again... what kind of equipment would you be able to get for $3000 USD back in 1992 ? I remember spending my hard earned summer job cash in 1979 for a Radio Shack TRS-80 model 1 (4K ram), type drive, no hard disk... LOL IMHO, a flight simulator and its extensions are the pinnacle of computing complexity for consumers. The only danger here is creating an elite with the sliders locked in the max position.
December 6, 201312 yr I Love FSX. Before P3D was released the future of flight simulation was depressing. Developers have squeezed and pushed, but there is a limit. I've said it before, P3D has the genes of its father. It will grow. Just like the human race, the next generation is born. FSX will reach its natural limits and the son, will find new and better ones.
