FO Voice in headset

Featured Replies

Sorry folks, I can see some topics about this but I dont really get it. I just bought a USB headset and want to use this for communication with my FO. My plan was to use my speakers (analog) via the soundcard in the back of the computer for engine sounds and the USB headset for FS2Crew (and hopefully RC). How do I have to set everything up? So far I have managed to set up FSX so I have engine sound in the speakers and default ATC in the USB headset. I am using FS2Crew for J41 and the B737NGX. Hope someone can give some advise.

Hi Johnny,

this will not work. USB Headsets have an inbuild sound module and will take control over your computer soundcard. I had a similar problem with a networked configuration and had to stop using the USB Headset.

My system via widefs (not really helpful for you: x-fi titanium on main computer for simulator, fs2crew, fspassenger sounds. RC on a laptop via widefs and x-fi usb as sound source. And to get sounds from main computer and laptop together: connect both optical jacks (out and in). Everything is perfect on 5.1 speakers as well as on a headset connected to the frontpanel of my main computer.

Hi Johnny,

Just select your USB device on the FS2Crew Config Panel, then press 'HS' on the FS2Crew Main Panel.

Most of your FO sounds should come out of your USB headset.

yea headsets on usb do work contrary what kurt has suggested, rc will still come thru your speakers unless they have made a sp on this which i havnt heard of yet

Not entirely true - I've been running RC on my WideFS client PC for years and have a digital audio patch cable between the WideFS PC and the FSX PC digital audio jacks. When simming, I set the default audio playback device on the WideFS/RC PC to the Digital Audio Out (SPDIF) jack. On the FSX PC, I have the Digital Audio input jack pointed to my USB Headset. So, I hear both FS2Crew and RC in my USB headset at the same time. Provided you have the hardware, it works like a champ...
