SimPlates

And if you use Ipad you can get this info now for free at FltPlan.com (which is used by RW pilots). It includes Canadian charts too.

What if you're outside North America, where that information may not be freely available? I've wondered about sim plates myself, since it would open up a lot more airports for me.

Yea I need charts for outside of the US.....

You can always try to do a Google search typing "(ICAO code) airport charts", and will find some charts for nearly every commercial airport, though some might be out of date if you keep your Navdata up to date (which I don't, so it wokrs fine for me).

I took the plunge.... It's okay I am used to using FS Kneeboard 2 which is great! I am not a big fan of the system on how they display their charts within SimPlates. You can not zoom out but you can zoom in on the chat. I still have decent vision so it would be nice to have the whole chart fit on my IPAD. Additionally, wish they had a better way of accessing downloaded charts. Could describe my ideas but that would put all of you to sleep. ;) overall if you don't have anything and world wide is your focus the it gets 5 out 10 at this time. There is a ton of room to grow though. That is if they continue to work on the app.

Best $$ I've spent but it doesn't cover everything. Still have to use alternatives for various small airports. there is NO one location where you can get all the charts without spending a LOT of funds. So Simplates will cover most but not all.

The Android version came out also, but I uninstalled it and was refunded after finding out that airport parking charts weren't included even though the product page advertises that feature.

All the charts it has can be found for free on the net...maybe not all in one place but ultimately for free.

Agreed but when I'm doing an IFR flight and have to divert, I prefer to be able to pop up Simplates and get the plate as opposed to searching around the internet. now, if I am planning a flight in a leisurely manner, it's not an issue. I also downloaded the entire US FAA library to my tablet.
