These are my terrain settings:

[TERRAIN]

AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3

DETAIL_TEXTURE=1

LOD_RADIUS=3.500000

MESH_COMPLEXITY=76

MESH_RESOLUTION=22

SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=2

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=6000

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=6000

TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=28

WATER_EFFECTS=6

Regarding scenery packages - I hardly ever use default scenery.

That very low LOD radius certainly helps explain your good performance. The default setting is 4.5 and it looks like a blurry mess. Frankly if you are running it at 3.5 you give yourself a lot more headroom to run lots of AI at the expense of having a flight sim with surroundings that look like soup. With that result who gives a rat's dead toe about how much AI you have. Try cranking it up to 6.5 and see how you like it.

I have it at 4.5 and must say i dont think it look like soup. I did try 6.5 once but I got a problem with the AI traffic at Orbx airports, they got invisible. I also couldn't see much difference from 4.5 to 6.5. So I set it back too the highest default setting. :mellow:(The worst thing about that was that i had to reinstall FSX just too get Orbx AI traffic visible again)

Also played around with those settings in Prepar3D and could not see much differnce from 4.5 to 6.5 but maybe my eyes are deceiving me...

My last argument to Frank, If you have Orbx they reccomend Mesh Complexety set to 100 to get scenery render correctly and yours is set to 76... just saying

Well, I do have ORBX and a whole lot more and not one of my scenery packages is blurred - not one.

Here is a list of the developers I use. I have 90% of the individual airports they make.

I don't know exactly why I get by with good performance but I do. I never look at fps and if every once in a while there is a micro pause I attribute that to my security software. I run Vipre Internet Security because I'm not going to expose my system to attack - at least not on purpose. The security software is not instrusive so I don't worry about it.

Here are a couple of sections from my fsx.cfg file associated with terrain and scenery.

The whole point - it works for me. That's all that counts.

It good that it works for you I won't argue with that :rolleyes: , but what works for you may not work for everyone else. Like the OP that stated he was not happy with the performance when setting AI at 100% and I'm sure he would not get 30+ FPS at busy airports with high scenery details by upgrading he's system or overclock. Maybe you don't care about FPS but the OP did and that what all us naysayers based our answers on.

Cheers and happy flying :smile:
