October 3, 201213 yr Samsung Requests New Patent Trial Over Juror 'Misconduct' http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20121002201632770 One day this is going to make a great movie to sit back and watch :drinks: We've been watching the smartphone patent wars for a while now, and what have we learned? I've learned that all the vendors are infringing somebody's patents. And that means we can all drop the phony moral indignation and think about what we should do about the patent mess the world has gotten itself into by allowing software patents.
October 4, 201213 yr And that means we can all drop the phony moral indignation and think about what we should do about the patent mess the world has gotten itself into by allowing software patents. As I see it we have two options. Either ignore this whole patent war malarkey, buy the stuff we like and be happy with it, or let it get to us and spend our days banging our heads bloody against the virtual brick wall that discussing these things on the internet is. I'm going with the former. Bye. Rolf Lindbom
October 4, 201213 yr Patent wars happen all the time in all industries.Check out the Pharmaceutical industry newswires and you'll see it's part and parcel of the industry as big companies fight tooth and nail to hold onto their intellectual property. Generic companies are constantly picking through patents to see if there is something they can exploit, it's one of the ways they do business. The only reason we are sick to death of the smartphone/tablet battle is because it involves Apple; and as we know anything that involves Apple has to be force-fed to the masses whether we want to hear it or not. I can't see for the life of me why a patent war between two companies would have any influence on which product I would buy, especially when it involves a mere mobile phone. Anthony O'Brien
October 4, 201213 yr This patent war started with Apple and will ultimately end with Apple losing. Cracks are already showing in the castle walls (SIRI gets it wrong more times than right, Apple maps are crap, etc.) so its only a matter of time. Apple's lawsuits are ironic considering they stole ideas for the mouse and GUI from Xerox. October 4, 201213 yr Apple's lawsuits are ironic considering they stole ideas for the mouse and GUI from Xerox. I can preface my comment by stating I have never bought an Apple product, but the above statement is incorrect. And highly pejorative. That Xerox and it's PARC sought not to copyright the GUI + mouse interface would allow others to come along and mimic it freely. That Apple later sought to copyright something that was already out there, so to speak, was what came along to bite them in their rear-end.
